Gas Prices in your area?

Ok...gas prices are doing nothing but going up. So, I figured we can all moan about it on one thread. LOL

As of last night in NW Ohio:$2.50/gal for the cheapest gas.

Do I hear $2.60??

Well, we are hovering in the $2.45-$2.55 per gallon for the cheap stuff here in western NY. I don't even look at the "premium" gas signs anymore! I did, however, call my uncle who is a mechanic and get reassurance that it is okay to put the cheapo stuff in my car, in lieu of taking out a second mortgage to fuel up the minivan!

Do ya think prices will ever go below $2 again?? Man, I can remember how freaked out we were when they hit $1.50 a gallon!!! I also remember when gas cost less than $1 a gallon, back when I was in high school. Sigh, now I sound like an old codger, LOL! "Back in MY day..........."

Cheers!
Heather

in general, but , Katnap!

My little '97 saturn used to be cheap to fill up...$9-11. Hubby just filled up today-$18.43. We have a van, too...and frankly, I'm scared to find out how much it would cost. Last time I filled it up (I drive it as little as possible) it cost 33 greenbacks...and that was 35 cents/gal ago.

I got gas yesterday and it had jumped to $2.65 a gallon! I'm from NW Indiana. I drive a Durango and I was really low on gas yesterday, so it cost me $53.00 to fill the tank! I can't afford to drive that SUV anymore.

One of two things is going to happen.....

1. we are all going to start finding a physical mode of transportation...bike, blade, walk.... and get into great shape.

------------------OR--------------------

2. There'll be lots of chit chat on the internet for those of us who remain at home.

Hamilton (Canada) yup Katnap its worse here isnt it? This morning it was 96 cents a litre.

Why is it that gas always seems to go up right before the week end? Dh says to stop moaning about it. Either pay it or walk. Oh we'll pay it. This morning I filled up with his credit card! eek lol!!!!

Warm wishes....MamTo6

gas in CA

Out here in southern CA they did a segment about gas on the news last night and they found a gas station that was $3.05 for reg. and $3.25 for premium....thank goodness I don't use premium, and after reading this thread thank goodness I don't drive in Canada either.

They also said on the news that the price is supposed to keep going up. I am w/ Mrs. Smith....I remember when gas was around $1 a gallon. ughhhhh how I miss those days!!!

$2.55 this morning...

From Good Morning America today...

Gas prices are going through the roof. The average price of a gallon of regular is now $2.50 a gallon, up 20 cents in the last month and 70 cents since the beginning of the year, according to the nationwide Lundberg survey of about 7,000 gas stations. The most expensive gas station in the country, in Needles, Calif., is charging $3.29 a gallon.

But there are things you can do to save money at the pump -- even if you can't trek all the way to Evanston, Wyo., which has the nation's cheapest gas at $2.12 a gallon. Brad Proctor, founder of gaspricewatch.com, appeared on "Good Morning America" with tips on how to make the trip to the gas station less painful for your wallet.

Buy at the right time. The day and time when you buy gas does matter. Through Labor Day, don't buy gas on Mondays and Thursdays. After Labor Day, don't buy gas Wednesday evenings or Thursday mornings. It's generally best to buy gas before 10 a.m., because that's when prices change.

Leave the air conditioning on. A lot of people think that turning the air conditioning off will improve gas mileage, but they are wrong. If you open the windows, which you probably will, that increases drag, and overall, you'll get worse gas mileage. So you're better off keeping windows closed and the air conditioning on.

Check all available gas stations. Sometimes when you come to an intersection, you'll see three or four gas stations. Don't assume that just because they're right next to each other they will have the same prices. They could vary by as much as 10 cents a gallon. And, if it makes you feel any better, when adjusted for inflation, the price of gas hasn't reached a record yet. The all-time high, $3.03 a gallon in today's dollars, was set in March 1981-- 63 cents higher than today's average.

As of yesterday here in NC $2.59 a gallon.
I'm glad my second car is a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle
My lawn mower takes more gas than it does.
