Checking in and todays my little mans first birthday
Well we had a great day today. We went and had lunch with dad today and boy did he eat a lot at furs. I really think we got our moneys worth. LOL The we took dad back to work and off to the DR for our one year check up. She said he was doing great. It was so funny he started signing to her and she knew what he was saying. I was so surprised when she said who has been teaching you that. LOL She said he is in the 50% in weight and 75% in Height. She said mom you are doing a great job and keep up the great work. He got some blood drawn which he didn't like and then three shots. He was a real trooper. We came home for a nap and then dad came home early to play and start the celebration. My parents came over and we all went out to eat together. It was so funny because all day we have been singing Happy Birthday to him and each time he would just smile. LOL MY mom thought that was so cute. When we were at the restaurant they brought him a birthday cookie and at first he thought it was a coaster and didn't know what to do with it but play with it. LOL So I took it from him and took a bite and showed him it was something to eat and boy did he know what to do with it then. LOL We had such a great time we didn't get home until after 9:00 he was so tired that he barley made it into his jammies and had his bottle and off to bed. I can say we had a great day. Hope all of you had a great day as well.

Hi all!
With life just flying by, it's been a while. But I wanted to ask for you all to say a prayer for a family I know. They are my age (about 40) with 2 small boys (both under the age of 10 I think) and the mom died suddenly this morning. We don't know any details yet of a cause, but it is just horrible. I can't imagine having to tell the children. Sorry to be a downer. I'm still in shock. Barb - the birthday sounds wonderful! |

Linnie ~ I'm praying. My gosh, that's just awful. Kids so young, heartbreaking. When things like this happen, I ask the questions to which we are not supposed to know the answers to yet. Praying is better.

'ello, all!
I just got home from putting up the Peter Pan set. The church where we perform is so busy, we literally had to "book" a slot to come in and set up at 9:15, this evening, and we had to wait five minutes, because the teen worship service ran over! We were sliding in flats, as they were sliding out their equipment. I have no idea at this point how this show is going to go?? There are moments of brilliance, but then again, there are moments of total crap! The "Lost Children" are truly LOST at times, and after all these weeks of rehearsal, they just don't seem to be cluing in! We spent four hours on Sunday rehearsing, and when they came in on Monday evening, they were no better -- and maybe a little worse!! We shall see what we shall see...... Add us to your prayer list!!! I would be lying if I said I will be sad when this session is over! I am ready for a break! We started this little project just three weeks, to the day, before Mom died. It seems so hard to believe -- it feels as if time has sort of split, in a way.....like "real life" with all its many projects and obligations just keeps whizzing by. It all runs together and feels as if there just isn't enough time in the day --- but yet, where Mom is concerned, it seems as if she died a very long time ago. It's hard to put all those events in the same time frame as this production....the hospital, the decision to remove life support, the waiting, her death, all the planning, the funeral, the after party, cleaning out all her things, choosing the headstone, dealing with Dad, all the adjustments -- all those things seem as if they've taken years, yet I was already working on Peter Pan when it all happened. I have a hard time putting those two things in the same "realm". Well, I should head out and see if I can get some things done before bed. I will be praying for your friends, Linnie. Hugs, Sally

Julie, what a lovely gift! Could you perhaps photograph them & let us have a peek? I'd love to see them, especially after teaching Art to children for my whole career! Aren't children grand??

A collection
Hi Skinny,
Actually, a while back, overwhelmed with artwork... I wondered how I could capture some of these artistic moments permenantly... and more usefully.... than a box of artwork... I hit upon the plate idea.... the girls have been making plates for a while now.... This Mother's Day makes about 9 plates.... we actually use them... My oldest asked me today what I was going to do with them all when I had "hundreds".... I think I may get a plate hanger that displays 3 at a time... and then show them off.... but I told her that eventually, when I die... they will each get their plates back... and their children will LOVE them... can you imagine going to visit Grammy and getting to eat off a plate your mother designed when she was five? So much fun!! My husband offered the idea of shelving that would eventually display them all.... I don't know... but I LOVE them!!!! julie |

I love showing off my kids... they are all asleep right now... thank goodness!! the two little ones brought home a stomach virus on Thursday... YUCK.... the fourteen year old got it last night... and hubby is down with it now... When I put them all to bed tonight... they ALL had fevers!!! so... as soon as they aren't pasty and have a little pink in their cheeks... I'll post a picture in my photo album!! Julie, I think this is wonderful! What a way to celebrate the diversity of each of your children & to teach them that their work is beautiful & valued & useful to the family! Congrats on a great idea!
