I'd consider a "zipper" tattoo on my tummy if it meant I could tuck all the excess inside,

Katnap - I think that is really funny too Love that sense of humour....and what a fab idea

Zipper tattoo, oh my goodness, that is just the funniest!!
Hey, I wonder if they have magnet bellybutton "piercings", so that I could totally freak my family out?

You ladies are a hoot!!!! I at 43 could do the belly button four kids and the bellybutton survived. It's the below the belt that would cast a pall over my precious belly button.

Hello All~ A word on the reputation thing-y. I like reading the comments & seriously, you'd have to be posting them all the time in order to be able to post what & when you want to. What's with this message that says,"you have to spread a little reputation around..."? how frustrating is that? You have to make 15 posts before you can add to someone's rep again. Drat!

Speaking of piercings....a woman I worked with went on a "mission" when she turned 40....think it had something to do with her new relationship....her new "partner" thought it might be fun
Anyways, she got her tongue pierced and a few weeks later both her nipples were down
The thought of it bought tears to my eyes....she thinks its great.....I say go for it, whatever makes you happy.... not for me though...it was hard enough breastfeeding a 6 month old with teeth
That experience is now a very distant memory as the baby in question will be sweet sixteen this year....memories are precious, don't ya' think??

I forgot the funniest part of my son's ear and my tattoo story! My parents are pretty conservative. So, we get my son's ear done and say "we won't go see gramma and papa for a while ok?" Well, not more that 2 minutes later (literally, 2 minutes) we are crossing the street and who pulls up - my parents! Of course they noticed RIGHT AWAY!!!

Then, I get my butterflies in February. So hiding them for a couple of months was easy with pants. And, the right socks will hide them too. So one day I have on shorts and short socks and go to the grocery store. Who do I run into? Yup, my parents. So, I'm doing the "dance" while talking to them to keep my right ankle out of sight. they didn't notice, but anyone watching me must have thought I was nuts!
All summer I'd be sure I had the "right" socks on when doing something with my parents. A few times I had to run in the house and put some on when they just stopped by and I was barefoot. Finally around August I decided I'd just let them notice - it was getting to be too much WORK to hide it! It was a few weeks and my mom says "what's on you leg?" thinking it was dirt, or something. so I PROUDLY show her - she didn't beleive it was real for a while!

I firmly beleive that you should wait until at least 30 years old before you get a tattoo. AND, it needs to be someplace where you can hide it if necessary. I was 38 when I got mine. I was pretty comfortable with myself and where I was in life. But I can still wear pants or dark stockings and it will be hidden. I think that's important.

still laughing out loud....

okay Linnie.... I was probably 27 when I got that last tatoo...(where I was a little less than sober)... and like you... spent several months "hiding" it from my parents...

WHAT IS UP WITH THAT????? I thought I was nuts to be an adult hiding a tatoo from my mother.... and here you are .... THIRTY-EIGHT...and HIDING a tattoo...

You have given me a good laugh this mornig.... I'm glad I'm not the only "adult" who has hidden a tatto from mom and dad!!!!!

Question Piercings

Linz....Back to your life begins at 40.... ok, I will "admit" I am 40+, definately admit to a changed me, will let you gals in on the "new" man but I AIN'T gonna get any piercings on my tongue, (it hurts bad enough when I bite it) nipples (remember those "nursing days") or belly button (just not going to to go there) . I am wearing out fast enough as it is, don't need any additional "holes". I shutter when I think of the pain!!!!!

Hello All~ I just logged on as the time change has given me a great excuse to sleep late, and what greets me but your hilarious stories of piercings, tattoos & breastfeeding little darlings! Thanks for the smiles! I have no tattoos (yet!!) only pierced ears & breastfeed the lot & had strategies for when they bit!

hee hee hee hee! :D

I love it! Thanks for the smiles, ladies.

Linnie- I was thinking that if I get this tattoo (which I MUST now) how will my mom think of it?! She's seen my husband's tats of course and my dad laughed at his last one...it's a big chinese dragon on his bicep. To look at him he's pretty clean cut so he always shocks people when he's at a pool or something. He's got a soaring eagle on the other arm - both cover ups of old tattos...
He's got the Chinese symbol for loyalty on his shoulderblade and one of those panthers crawling up his leg like so many people lol.

You're right - 30+ is the best age for a tattoo. You've had enough time to think about it.

Tricia - yes, definitely will be getting one that's just ME. It's hard to pick the exactly right one, tho. And where. I think on the small of my back or the upper part of my back.

The front-runner is a celtic knot in green, yellow & purple with the head of a dragon, not a scary one but a simple one from the book of Kells.

Sally - what I find so interesting is that I used your scenario regarding a cross tattoo...since I am contemplating a pretty celtic one....and I thought of showing it to Jesus and I think I would be proud of it. Like it's a symbol of my faith, an outward sign to the world of something important to me.

Oh gosh! I forgot the biting part! LOL - my "baby" is almost 10 now - have only my ears pierced - once - but my older mini-me has now had to have her ears done 3 times - the 1st time they got really infected - overnight literally - while we were on vacation - the 2nd time the seatbelt in the car pulled one out and we took them out to let the ear heal (it had started to rip a bit - but it healed up nicely - you would never know it now) and this time everything seems to be fine - thank goodness. The younger one went through the whole "It hurts, don't touch them" thing - until she discovered "cool" earrings at Limited Too - now she changes them herself every few days (sigh) my little drama queens...

Chrissy! I love it! And I think it would be totally you! I think if I were ever to get one - it would be the celtic cross - in the small of my back -kind of thinking - "God's got my back" - I know - totally corny - but that's me

Oh Girls - what a wondrous fun-loving group you are. Tattoos, piercings - to do or not to do - what to do ???
I think I'm glad I'm almost medicare age - do you think medicare would pay for it - as preventive medicine??
I don't even wear earrings = don't know why, just never did. I guess one might say I led a "sheltered life" - but that's not really true either. "Interesting, Exciting, adventurous" might be more descriptive. But then when you teach teenagers for 30 years and have 3 unique kids of your own - it would be hard not to. . .but then isn't that what Living is all about - reaching out, searching for one's identity. experiencing challenges, fun, frolic.etc.
I love to hear all the fun and chatter you mix in with the serious side. May each of you always march to the Drummer of Your choice. . .and Enjoy
((((Hugs))))
Carol

Hi Carol, nice to see you around again! Like you, I've had a fun & interesting life even if I don't have tattoos! I always enjoyed the ones my students had but I agree that those life-long choices may be questioned once you get over 30! ( like the symbols of bands!) My B'son has a great tattoo on his bicep of a huge dragon. I really like it!
