"Buca" is a clear alcohol that tastes like black licorice (spell?). It is also good as a shot with bailey's floating on top. After my brother's stag party we met up with the guys at a bar and all Tom kept yelling was "BUUUCCAAA!!!!!" Ahhh, memories. I had a GrandAm that had some kind of lock malfunction and more than once I locked my keys in with it running AND with my son in it! Of course, he was in a car seat at the time. Can't remember why I was out of the car with it running and him in it. ..that doesn't sound too good, but it was something odd. Anyway, once was in my driveway and once in town. |

I just cant stand it...gotta post before reading....
IT's IN!!!! IT WAS IN THE PAPER THIS MORNING!!!!!!
WITH BIG GIANT HEADLINE!!!!! ![]() I am still in shock. Just got to my office and my friend picked up the paper on her way in and handed it to me on my way upstairs...there is is, smack dab, the top story on the Opinon page! I went to their website but they dont' have the editorials on line!!! ARGH~~~ I will have hubby try to scan it in or something tonight. but they printed my letter VERBATIM, didn't change a THING, it's just exactly what I posted on Debs thread last week. Time to run out and buy a few copies of the Echo! I actually have to go see a client in a 1/2 hour but am just bursting right now... I wanted to share with you friends here! P.S. for those who missed it , I wrote an anonymous letter to an Irish American newspaper about birthmoms right to information, with the address of the NYS contact registry, etc. just to put it out there, a little PSA... I'm so happy and in shock. Whoa. If it doesn't do me any good in my personal search, that's OK, because the message is out there for other birthmoms...I really hope it helps.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Chrissy, congrats on getting your letter published. Pink, I am not far along in my search at all. I've registered with ISRR and tons of other registries and I've requested information from the agency. So far, nothing! But, I'm a patient woman. Well, I have a nasty work day ahead of me, so I should drag myself away from the forums! Have a good day everyone Paige <------who loves cup after cup of plain black coffee |

I rarely drink anything other than lukewarm or cold "Tim Horton's" coffee, 1 1/2 cream. no sugar. Don't think you guys have many franchises down in the States yet, but I will make the sacrifice just to hang out with you great bunch of peoples.
Chrissy.... congratulations on being publicized..... Hope your "editorial" opens some doors. (Read the {original} letter.) Paige.... welcome..... You'll find some really super people here. Sally... Safe return. As for locking the keys in the car, I think we have all done it. I went thru, what I call a stupid period a few yrs ago. While working midnight shift, I would run down to the coffee shop and 3 consecutive times I locked the keys in the car. Fortunately, I had the engine shut off. Now I have the officers coming off the road bring me coffee if I need it. My best "stupid" act occurred a couple of months ago. I went to have my manicure and was in a bit of a hury to get home. Jumped in the car, tried to start it and nothing....after a couple of tries, called CAA, got a boost...nothing...he tried again and nothing....there was a little icon lit up on the dash that neither of us reconized, so I got out of the car to read the book, the TTdriver got in and .....purrrrrr. I left it in gear. Did I EVER FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT!! The TTD said it happened before, but it was a male driver. Oh well, Live and Learn!!! It is snowing here in Toronto as I write. Suppose to get a couple of cms....probably just enough to hamper driving. Well, its nap time. I have been battling something since mid Dec... A friend recommended "wild oregano oil" suppose to kill viruses, bacteria, funguses and all kinds of germs. I have taken 3 doses now and my sinuses are drying, I can breath, coughing and sneezing has slowed down..... maybe I have found a "cure" or maybe nature is taking its course. Catch ya all later. LOL "K" |

Yup - have been teaching Kindergarten for a while now and I really love my job. They are a lot of fun. We're learning about Alaska this week (instead of just doing winter) and today we read about sled dogs, then played dogsled all around the playroom with jump ropes and pizza boxes. Fun times! We also had a wedding of Q and U.

I'm back! First off, THANK YOU gals for your thumbs up and little green men and "Hoorays" in all forms - you really made my entire day - I'm so glad I could share 'the letter' here. Its one thing to write something, and a WHOLE 'Nother Thing to see it in the paper. Anyway, hubby snatched up 2 more copies (cleaned out the local Irish deli/pub
) It's like one of those things oyu want to clip and send to your mom - but amom would fall over in her chair and bmom is m.i.a.! ![]() Paige - hey! Great that you're here! I'm glad you posted b/c our paths have crossed on other threads and I like to get to know the cool chicks out there...I am intrigued that you are a lobbyist...sounds like a fun job. I'm an adoptee, also still in the search process (which you've gathered I'm sure) stick around! Linnie - ROFL you cocktail waitress you! I had a thing recently of doing Irish Coffees (anyone sensing a trend? ) with Jameson & Baileys.. I am a loather of licorice so I stay away from the sambucca...last night I met bro for dinner and we had Coffee with Frangelico which was great...yummmy... Ugh keys in the car hijinx - we've all been there. My husband is the WORST at doing that for some reason (he's the REAL blonde in our family, never mind his black hair- there's gotta be blonde roots under that) and actually went and bought himself a set of 'burglary tools" from a law enf. catalogue LOL like a SlimJim thingy, etc...he's a cop so it's OK...he's not a criminal Hi Pink! Glad to see you found the thread and checked in ! You really have your hands full over there with 4 kids, one starting to drive - yikes! Kat - wild oregano oil?! Never heard of it! I'm going to look for it in the health food store...wow. And it's working? Amazing...do you take it straight or put it in salad lol?! LeeAnn - love ya, babe! So what's this project that has been keeping you up to all hours...what kind of "real people" must you speak with?! Can we help? ![]() Sally - have a great time in Indy - have a fun church meeting! OK, better get back to my job, what they pay me for... ![]()

Well, I must admit I've locked my keys in the car several times, but the very most embarrassing one was when it was still running. I felt like a fool. Plus there were lots of people around, I was at the train station.
And with my memory being so poor recently, I'm sure people are looking for my blonde roots too!Paige - glad you're here, welcome. You and I probably need to sit close to each other - I too like to drink cup after cup of black coffee. jenniperg - I teach preschool and we did the dogsled thing about 2 weeks ago. We ended up running through the church yelling 'mush'! Today we had a birthday party for Clifford. Chrissy - congratulations on getting your letter published! How cool! Well, it's snowing here and we're suppose to get several inches of lake effect. And my day is far from done. I'll check back later tonight.

Mil ~ I'm sending all my snow to Mary, she asked for it!! So I'm sure you can send yours too! The kids are all excited for the possibility/probibility of no school tomorrow! I've been to the grocery store, we are all set. You have to have slice and bake cookies during a snowstorm, and cocoa. It's required, plain and simple.
Chrissy ~ I'm working on a project for my injured shoulder, getting all my out of pocket expenses together, and they are significant. What a mess, what a nightmare, but this one lady today was SO HELPFUL. I was just amazed at what she did for me practically on the spot, getting copies of all my statements for me from their billing department. I'll be sending her a thank you card next week. I'm off to make a half decent dinner for once! I'll be back soon!

Hello All~ I've been really busy this week, & tired too. That trip last weekend did me in. I'm glad to see everyone settling in in our new "place" (Thanks Sally!) Hello Paige~ glad you found us. I'm a birthmother, in reunion with my wonderful son since July, 2003. I find the people here very supportive. It's good you're here too.
LeeAnn, I had to do that with the out of pocket expenses... what an ordeal! Luckily I could pull them together as they brought me a lot of $$$ at the time. (Money I had already spent!) One perk of having good insurance. How is your shoulder now? I had a Reiki treatment today Mostly for my back. Later I was at the doctors & got weighed... thought I had managed to lose 5 lbs since last visit! Unfortunately the scale was uneven & soon weighed me at my usual ! Chrissy, so good that they published your letter as you wrote it! I hope it brings you some leads! Mil & Jennipeg~I taught all grade levels during my teaching career. Started with Elementary, Primary to 6, then when I was turning 40, I switched to junior High (Middle school, 7-8-9) I love the energy of this age group. Finished my career with high school, mostly Art the whole time . I'm so glad I had a job that I loved. Katnap~ Wild oil of oregano, I'll check that out, my sister studies Homeopathy & knows everything about natural healing. Linnie~ I have a Grand Marnier on the rocks. It was a Christmas gift from D/H & I just opened it tonight , So delicious! No snow in Nova Scotia tonight. It's been un-seasonably warm, +10C which is amazing for mid-Feb. We usually suffer with -20 at this time of year. Great for the heating bills. I haven't even worn my boots for the last 2 days. It's foggy now, well, that cuts the snow, so it's welcome. I've had my share of locked keys too. Don't you fel like a clutz when that happens? Can't stay up till my usual tonight so I'll say good night!
