Congratulations on the birth of your new grandchild!
L.L., your post brought back memories of when we took custody of DS. He was born in Japan also (bparents were US military stationed there), and his bMom had an emergency c/s. We didn't get to see how bMom's hospital stay was, though, since she was released prior to us getting to the country. ETA: For cultural reasons, I would keep the baby covered when you venture out. I remember when we had just left the base after taking custody, and we ran into some very friendly (and curious) Japanese women on the street while waiting to cross. Of course, they wanted to see the baby. However, we got an earful (in Japanese) when we took the blanket off because we had no mask on the baby. Looking back, it was a pretty funny lesson on cultural sensitivity!

Hi All, The Japanese warn us not to be taking him out until he is a month old. Yesterday we went on an outing & several people told us that that is the Japanese custom. He's only 2 weeks old today. Thanks for all the good wishes! It is fun to be here with the new family as they get used to each other. As well, I get the bonus of the cultural experience. Good to hear from everyone. xoxox L.L.

Congratulaions on the baby. When my biological son was born (31 years ago), the pediatrician (very strict woman) told us we were not to take him out for a month. Her reason was the danger of infection and a baby's underdeveloped immune system.

Wow - more than 6 mo. since anyone's posted at Truvy's! That's too bad - this was a great thread!
I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to Sally! (shirleyville) She posted quite often all over Adoption.com. She was also hostess of one of the areas. And she never posts anymore! It's as if she's fallen off the face of the earth. She always had such great posts and I loved following her story. Anyone ever hear from her? I certainly hope she's alright!

Mil ~ Sally is doing great. She just had a birthday on Thursday and is still celebrating it over the weekend...spending some quality time with her precious Goddaughter.
Hope all is well with you. Anybody else still around? ~Deb |

Hey, Mil!
Yep, RG is right! My world is pretty wonderful these days! I just returned from a birthday celebration at my God Daughter's and in a couple of hours we'll be leaving to have a birthday dinner out with my dad and stepmom! I do miss Truvy's and would love to see it come to life again! We had a very special thing going on here.....and I know many of us formed friendships that have transcended the internet. Where is everyone else? How is everyone else? Let's do a Truvy's roll call!!! Hugs, Sally

Happy Birthday, Sally! Good to hear from you - I was a little worried about you, lol.
Nice to see a few other people checking in! Would be nice to hear from some others and get everyone's update. LeeAnn - you around anywhere??? Sandy - what about you, haven't heard from you in ages! Lyndalou - how's the newest grandbaby doing? Rivergal - how's you health these days? I know there are lots of others too! Check in if you can?

Hello All~ I'm fine & enjoying my life on the East Coast of Canada. My grandson thankfully brought his parents from Japan & visited with us for most of August! What a joy he is! I have maintained a lovely relationship with my birthson & hope to see them again this year. So nice to see people check-in here again. I miss our chats. Happy birthday Sally! xoxxo
