Hi All~ September can be so exciting, can't it? Now that I'm retired from teaching, it has a different meaning. I was talking to a friend who still teaches & we have some projects we have to do together, she said" We'll have to get that done as soon it will be Sept. 6th!" I stupidly asked, "What's that?" Duhhhh... 1st day of school. I'm so far out of the loop already! School here usually starts after Labour Day & over the years I always resented when it started before that, like some precious part of the summer was stolen or something! Hope you all enjoy your 1st. day jitters. Imagine how the poor kids feel!

Hi All~ LeeAnn & Dabbie, I officially retired a year ago after 30 years teaching mostly art. I started out in Elementary, then Jr. High (your middle school) when I was near 40. I finished the last years of my career in High School. I would have stayed longer but I was off for 2 years with a knee problem. I fell on the ice in the parking lot at school. I didn't like ending my career that way. I LOVED teaching. It was the perfect job for me. I always fell in love with the kids, most of them anyway!
I'm now 58 & have the time to follow my "New" career as an Artist. The 30 years flew by!

Hope everyone's kids are enjoying getting ready for school - LeeAnn - tell Kristen that Victoria says Middle School is "no sweat" - she too is in her 1st year of middle school (School started in Flagler County - Florida on August 4th so my girls are 3 weeks in already)
(sigh) This project in San Jose (ok Milpitas if you want to be specific) is really turning into a pain in the rear - there were 2 hotels being run by a single group of managers -most of whom decided to stay with the old owners who are maintaining the 2nd hotel - that's fine - everyone has to make their own choices - but they are being VERY uncooperative with us - to the degree of being sneaky and hiding things - today we found software in the GM's office that came on Monday - and he KNEW we were looking for it - but just threw it on his desk and never said a word... WHY do people have to take business decisions so personally???? Ok - I feel better now that I got THAT off my chest. Thanks ![]() Have a super night everyone! GE

Hi everyone. It was a tough day for me yesterday. I moved my baby girl to her college dorm. She's now a freshman at Indiana University in Bloomington. That's 3 hrs. from here.
In the past few months she's gotten VERY serious about a boy and so it was extremely hard for her to leave him. We took him with yesterday when we moved her and I felt so bad for the two of them, lol. But I did have an extremely good conversation with him on the way home and got to know him quite a bit better. He's a good kid and I can tell he really loves my daughter. Which is rather scary! I've talked to Miranda twice today and she's getting along well and she likes her roommate so far. Hopefully that will continue. Classes actually start on Monday. It really seems strange around here without her. My son Mike is a jr. in high school and they started school on Aug. 18th. He's on the varsity soccer team and they had their first official game of the season on the first day of school. It's a busy time for him - soccer takes a lot of time and it's hard when the season starts the same time school does. No rest for the wicked. Well, I'm pooped, I guess I'll be off to bed. ![]()

I'm 31 weeks now. I've been having contractions since I was about 27 weeks. But I got the steroids and am on the terbutaline pump at home. I wouldn't mind if you are the stay off your feet patrol , but I honestly don't need it. I'm home, sitting at the comp all day long, doing nothing. My husband is a blessing and does everything from cleaning to cooking to whatnot. My job is to cook the babies. They are great weights by now and hopefully I can pull until at least 34 weeks. The doctor believes I might even pull until 36 weeks. Time will tell, but at least I know I'm doing my best. I don't know if I'm having girls or boys. I want that to be a surprise. Although I do know that they are two of the same gender. Another little while and we'll know... I think the excitement of the surprise is worth the suspense. I imagine there's something special to the surprise. That's one of the reasons why I didn't want to find out. So we're holding our breath, hoping for the best and just trying to be the best mommy I can be already! ![]() |

Hi Twin Sis!
Glad to hear you are being good about staying off your feet - i've been thinking about you lately... Bill is an identicle twin - he and his brother will be 40 in Oct - and they were both miracle and surprise - his parents didn't know they were having twins - and they were born 11 weeks early - his Mom thought she was going to lose the baby (she had had several (4 or 5) miscarriages previously) imagine her surprise to find she not only DIDN'T lose "the" baby - but instead had TWO! Both boys were in the hospital for quite awhile afterwards - but aside from an overactive gag reflex - you would never know it now. Bill's mother says that was the only day EVER that Bill's father was atually speechless - he walked around in a daze from when the doctor told him he had twins until several hours later - LOL That was 40 years ago - today the doctors are so much better equiped - I'm sure your babies are going to be happy and healthy Hey Ladies - shall we start an opinion poll? Is she having girls or boys? I'm guessing GIRLS. GE

Hi All~ Glad you're doing so well, Twinsis! I'm with GE... GIRLS! We'll soon know. I hope you hold out for the 36 weeks. The longer the better for the babies, as you know.Off to the beautiful countryside today for me. I'm going to the cottage & leaving this computer right where it is. Curbing my addiction to late night computer use. Talk to you next week.

Wow GE, having twins back then must have been a real experience. Didn't she feel that she's larger than usual? I am so huge by now, that people are sure I'm overdue. I'm measuring in the 40's already. Like, way overdue. But it's an amazing experience to know that I'm actually carrying 2 human beings...
My husband is convinced I'm carrying boys. I would love girls. I think mommy and girls is so much fun. But I'll be happy with either of them. So let's hear what you all profess. ![]() |

Well - I guess between it being her 1st sucessful pregnancy and them being so early (both boys were under 4lbs) that she never thought about it.
She was bearly feeling them moving around and they only ever heard 1 hearbeat when they listened for it - of course, now they would be ale to better distinguish a 2nd heartbeat and she would probably have been put on bedrest as well - but 40 years ago - who knew. For that matter - my a-dad's younger brother and sister are twins also - although twins run in that family - they are 65 now - almost 66 - and my grandmother didn't know she was having twins either. The family story is that my grandfather said "That's it - no more - they're coming like rabbits now" and that's why they didn't have any more children. LOL!! Girls ARE fun - but let me tell you - pre-teen girls are a CHALLENGE (and I'll bet there are scores of mom's to teenage girls who are jumping to tell me it will get worse before it gets better!) My girls are 19 months apart - that's close enough for me! GE

Hi TwinSis! Hi Everybody!! I'm feeling that it's girls also! I was right with all my kids, so we'll see!! Sounds like you are doing fantastic!! My mom's friend had twins, oh maybe 40 to 45 years ago, and nobody knew she was carrying twins. She had no idea. So, after all her friends found out (after the babies were born) they all went out to find an extra of what they had bought her for her baby shower!! What a surprise!!
I'm so glad that you are waiting to be surprised!! That surprise, all 3 times, got me through my labor bigtime. I distinctly remember, in the midst of it all before Eric was born, saying to myself, "I think I'm having a boy, but how in the world do I know?" All of my dreams with all 3 pregnancies were right on as far as "knowing" if I was carrying a boy or a girl, but I had a good chance of being correct!! GE; Quote:
You don't say!!?? LOL!! I know exactly what you mean!! i.e., "Kristen, please get off the phone....." ![]()

I spoke to Deb last night. Her area is not in the direct path of this hurricane, but her weather was very windy and it was raining last night. Hope ALL stay safe! Thoughts and prayers coming your way.
shirleyville ~ Thanks so much for sharing your pictures with me. So hope you pursue this. You have great talent IMO. Shaela is an absolute doll and the way you captured her is priceless. I love the sunflower against the sky and what a shot with the bee on the flower. Absolutely amazing my friend!! TwinSis ~ Good to see you posting again. Take good care of yourself and the twins! ![]()
