I forgot to weigh myself yesterday. I will have to do it in the morning. I went for a 2 mile snowshoe-walk yesterday. That was fun... Have also been eating a lot of steamed veggies. Ymmm!

Hey there. Everything we do in life starts out as a goal. I have dropped from 275 lbs. to 212 lbs. since Jan. I am not on Atkins, South Beach or anything else like that. I pretty much made the decision to start living life after being depressed on and off for years. I walk on a treadmill 45 minutes a day 6 days a week. I eat 4 servings of fruit and 5 veggies a day. I eat only whole wheat and consume low fat dairy. I still allow myself some of the things I love and yes it is hard to be disciplined sometimes but there really is no magic bullet. Don't be hard on yourself if you mess up. There is always tommorow. Best of luck to you and contact me if you want any advice.

Danielle

Thinking of dropping out

Hi gang,

I've been missing you...

I thought of dropping out of the forum cause, well, I haven't been doing so good. I feel like I'm an outsider trying to fit in. I just kinda butted in and anyway I am not doing very good with losing weight. In fact I've managed to get myself back up to 226# at last count. Thats why I haven't been in touch. Ahhhhh! What am I doing to myself?

I really am proud of all the good work you have been doing and lets face it, It is HARD WORK. Why can't loosing weight be as easy and tasty as putting it on?

OK OK yes I'm having a pitty party. Anyone want to join in? LOL

So here is what I need. I need you to kick my buttocks, darn it, so I can get it in gear and jump back on the wagon. Problem is talk is cheap, so any ideas on how to up the anti??

Rionna I will also join in on the weekly weigh in's. I usually check the scale on Tuesday mornings, but Mondays are just as good. By the way that 226# was this evening, after I got up today Monday.

So ok now you know how bad I'm doing? I'll check in next monday for sure if not sooner. Keep up the good work everyone and hopefully soon I can add to the pluses of lossing #####'s.

Twee,

First things first......
Stop beating yourself up and get moving!!!!!!!!!!

Move all you can. Park your car further away so you have to walk a bit. Take stairs instead of elevators. When you want a snack, take a walk!

You didn't "Butt in".........No such thing on these forums! The more the merrier!!!!!!

You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

We're here for ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Karen

Twee-I think all of us know how you feel. I feel like I have been working like crazy and nothing is happening...I just try to keep plugging away.

One of the things that has worked for me is my newfound discovery that I love walking my dog. He has officially become MY dog and it is fun to take him for walks. A couple days ago we walked 5 whole miles! (Unfortunately, it was to the coffee shop where I got a latte. It was a small, skinny latte, though...)

Eating is really hard for me because I love heavy whipping cream. I have also banished soda from my world. When I need a fix, I grab a perrier water-no calories, no sugar, no caffiene but somehow it still feels like a really special treat.

As far as Easter candy is concerned, I buy lots of jelly beans. I think they are one of the grossest things ever invented, but my guy likes them and I feel like I am indulging by buying candy. Goofy, but it works.

Okay ladies...I hope the reason that noone has written in so long is because you are all too tired from all of your intense workouts...

I have been doing well on my exercise. I walked two miles today and yesterday I walked about 2 miles and spent 6 hours peeling bark off trees. I definately got a workout...and I started my cabin that I am going to build!

Intense workouts......yup, sounds like a good excuse to me

Weighed in on Sat, I've lost 15 lbs since I started 7 weeks ago. Feels like I should have lost more by now, but then I remember I am probably gaining muscle (I do weight training 4X per week). So.......I figure I have probably lost more than 15 lbs of fat, but have gained some muscle (which is heavier than fat).

The inches are coming off..........so that's the important thing.

Good job on the walking! How's everyone else doing?

PS: My DH bought a big bag of mini chocolate bars/reeses cups/etc.......and left it sitting wide open, right on the microwave!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was a good girl, and didn't touch even one of them, but UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gave him "you know what" about it

Well, it is raining today so I really don't think I will be going for a walk. I guess I will just have to be extra careful about my eating...

Nice job on not eating the candy...

All right ladies...what is going on? Did everyone walk so far that they got lost? Are you buried under gym equipment? Did you work out so long that you got locked in your gym and can't find a computer?

Things here are going okay. All of the fresh veggies are going on sale at the grocery store...sweet corn is this weeks big hit. Mmmmm.

I have been going on walks pretty often. I have stopped keeping close track because it has become something I just do. That is huge for me.

On the other hand, I stepped on the scale after a few weeks of not and I am up 3 pounds. Oops. Now I need to go on longer walks and eat less butter and more veggies...

Hope I am not intruding!! Just came across this post!! I am 5'7 and weigh 200lbs. I have a Thryoid problem, I take synthetic thyroid meds. Has anyone found diet that works for them while taking thyroid meds?

Also, don't know if any of you watch Oprah??? Yesterday was talking about the 5 things you should avoid in your foods. Sugar, fructose, saturated fat, hygronated oils, and enriched flour. they said if one of those is listed as the first 5 ingredients you should not be eating it; well I looked at some labels(suppose to be good stuff like the 100 cal.packs) and I can't find any crackers, cookies, etc without those ingredients. What are you suppose to eat? I know to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible but sometimes I want a cookie.

HEY !! I'm still around. Unfortunately, I have not been doing so well with the diet OR the exercise .
I got in some kind of "mood" last month, and you who know me KNOW what I do when I am like that !!

BUTTTTTTTT- I resolved that today ~~TODAY ~~TO-DAY~~2 Day~~ I am back ON THE WAGON !!
I have been very very careful with my food choices today. And I just did a two mile walk. I am sooooooooo out of shape !!!!!

I've gained back nearly twenty pounds of the forty some that I lost last summer. None of my clothes from last summer fit !!!! I am just so mad at myself !!!
But~~ I am BACK. And I can do it. I KNOW I can !!

Free- sounds like you are doing GREAT !!!! Thanks for not giving up on us. Where the heck is everyone else ??

shy_bear~~ WELCOME !!! I don't really have any advice for you regarding the thyroid thing. Also, I think if you look at ingredients on almost anything that's "edible", you are going to find one of those five "no-no's".
To me, and what has worked for me in the past, is just a simple diet of cutting back on portion size, and trying to stay away from the sweets, fried stuff, snacks, You know~~ all the stuff that is GOOD !!
Also, I try to drink alot of water. It seems to make me feel "full" more often. But again, that's just me.
And of course, good old "moving your butt". Much as we all hate it, I think we have all proven to ourselves at one time or another that we just can't do it without the exercise. YUCK !!!!! Someone has GOT to come up with the magic wand !!! ( Or maybe make chocolate "illegal" ???? )

Hi Shy Bear. I also want to welcome you here, although I don't have any useful advice for you right now...

Janie-I am so sorry about your gain. Now is the time to start getting it back off. My sister thought of a diet plan that just might help you, though...Wear those clothes that are too tight. Her philosophy is that if your pants are just a little too tight, it will remind you that you are trying to lose weight and then you will be more likely to make good food choices. I get crabby when I am uncomfortable, though, so no tight clothes for me...

I have been trying to stay active. Day before yesterday, I stacked wood for two hours, the day before I built a chicken coop with a bunch of friends and then worked in my garden for an hour (pulling out dead stuff that should have been done last year! Yuck!) On Friday I plan to build an outhouse (and walk 1/2 a mile each way to get to it) and on Sunday I am going to peel logs again.

I stopped working at the pizza place, so I am saving about a zillion calories there.

Things are going okay...we will check my weight tomorrow.
