Busy day, but wanted to post quickly:

add a martini to y'day's menu

Today:

Morning star bfast sausages
skim milk

Manhattan clam chowder
Toast (?)
Salad

chicken
challah (bread)
margarine
wine (it's the sabbath)
salad

WW has flex points that you can dip into if you exceed your daily allotment. I haven't used any this week, so I might dip into them to have more bread or wine at dinner, although since we're having chicken instead of salmon, I have some more points than I thought I would.

Coco--the WW boards can get mighty cranky (low blood sugar?). They do have a moderator, but they're not that active. I haven't been on in years. I met a group of women there years ago and we took our conversation off somewhere else and are still talking!

joining a little late...

I've been out of town for the last week, but have really enjoyed reading this thread and could really use the support, too.

I have been slowly making lifestyle changes for quite a few months now. I successfully lost 20 pounds and have kept it off for 8 months, but have been at a standstill as far as losing more.

I am not in any organized plan like WW or Adkins or South Beach. My plan is to move my butt and stop eating when I am full. I need to change it from a plan to an action.

One major step I have taken that I am very proud of is kicking my Coke habit. (That is Coca-cola, not cocaine) I was a 40 oz/ day drinker and have been soda free since July 27th. I have FINALLY stopped craving it. I have substituted all of my soda for water, so I'm feeling good about that, too.

My goal weight is 185# (I am 5' 11" and looked great last time I was at that weight.) I need to lose almost 40 pounds to get there.

So, since I just got back from my vacation, I am starting today.

Lynn

Well I am getting ready to leave to go to my dads... I went to the store today and bought me some snacks for the 6 hour trip... I am going to eat supper before we leave.. So we won't be stopping to eat out on the way down there. To tempting for me.. We usually stop at the Cracker Barrel. But no way not today...
So I am trying to save up my carbs for the trip..
I had 4 sausage link this morning and a jello cup, 0g. carbs for both..
I am having a hamburger patty and salad for dinner.. should be about 7g. cards there.
So that will leave me with 13g carbs to have tonight...

Ok I am out of here.. I will try to check in while I am gone. But I doubt that I will be able to... So I will be back on Sunday..
Gina

Time for my daily check in! Hi everyone <waving>

spay...loving your menu (martinis...mmm...but too dangerous for me)! Add a glass of wine for me~I saved up some points for it! I hadn't thought of the low blood sugar thing as a possible cause of "angry monkey preschool syndrome" on the WW boards, but it would explain quite a bit...

Gina~good luck on the trip. When I did Atkins my secret was beef jerky!

Janie~ enjoy your anniversary and watch out for those speed traps! <tosses janie 10 bucks to help with bail money >

kllee~LOL I finally gave in and bought the "DD" I should have started wearing a year ago. It really makes a difference. Great job sticking to Curves!

mj~I don't know if this would be any easier than trying to do the Total Gym w/your little ones around, but have you tried "The Firm" workout tapes/DVDs? When I can't get to the gym, those give me a great workout in a small space. They use a step-type platform, workout bar, etc. and some light hand weights; if you buy their "equipment" it usually includes 3 videos. I think Target carries almost all the stuff you need, so you don't have to look far for it.

D~substituting water for the Cokes is a great step. It's one that can really make a difference. (Yes, even with hushpuppies ) Congrats on your 4 lb loss!

Lissa~the right shoes make all the difference in your workouts. And the socks mj suggested are well worth the cost!

Lynn~welcome! Wow, you've already lost 20 lbs. good for you! And eliminating soda...you're a stronger lady than me lol. I drink diet, but I know it's not as good for me as water. I really need to cut down.

Wow,

Big variety of diet and exercise plans here. Everyone seems to be doing so well!

Lynn,

I like your diet the best: "move more, eat less". I hope it works! I've never been a huge fan of organized diets either, but I'm desperate.

Spay and Coco,

I'm envious of the martini's and wine. I'm currently on the wagon (my liver sighs in relief) for another week. Then I'm allowed red wine until I hit my goal.

I'm feeling better today and less whiny, although I would kill for some sugar. You wouldn't believe the withdrawal headache I have...worse than quiting coffee (not that I've ever been able to manage THAT feat!)

I did 2.5 miles on the treadmill last night and 20 minutes on the Total Gym. Now I can barely make it up the stairs to my office, LOL!

Good Luck to everyone!

Paige

LOL Paige...why do you think I dumped Atkins? They don't want you to have any WINE

Glad you're feeling better today! YOU CAN DO IT!

Well, this thread helped me out, already. I was at work last night (I work nights and my primary responsibility is to stay awake in case something happens.) and I thought to myself "I could read or play video games OR I could do my exercise video and then write about it on the forum..." So, I picked the ab workout. Tonight I am going to bring some more comfortable clothes and to the cardio workout. Yippee!

Greetings--

I have flex points that expire after Sunday so my menus are more calorie laden this weekend.

Today:
turkey bacon
toast, lite margarine
orange

smoked scallops (leftover from NY eve)
hearts of palm
crackers

ice cream and various snacks at a kid's birthday party (but I skipped the cake)

tacos with chicken
salad
(maybe something alcoholic and popcorn tonight)

I'm figuring on using less than 10 flex points today -- you get 35 a week and I only used 3 yesterday.

I took DD sledding and earned some activity points that way.

Ok I have not read any replies today.. Just wanted to check in and let you all know that my will power is definitly being tested this weekend.. I think if I can make it through this weekend, I can make it through anything.. But with that said I did do good though... Tonight for dinner they made, BBQ Ribs, Potatoe Salad, BBQ Baked Beans, Mac&Cheese, and Rolls... I on the other hand had BBQ Ribs, and a BIG Salad. Not sure how many carbs it was. But not a whole lot though...
So I say three cheers for Gina!

Ok I will be home tomorrow...
TTFN,
Gina

Good job Gina!!! I've been hanging in there as well, but it's so hard!!! It's Saturday night and I'm dying for a glass of wine or a G&T...oh well, I'm drinking a cup of tea with Splenda.

Here's what I had today:

Veggie eggwhite omlet
6 oz V8 juice

String cheese
sugar free jello

Shrimp salad with homemade sugar free blue cheese dressing

Celery with Laughing Cow Lite Cheese

Balsamic chicken breast
roasted eggplant and peppers
steamed green beans

Plenty of food and I'm not starving, but I don't feel satisfied... but I'm hanging in. I leave for Oakland for 3 days on Monday morning for business meetings. Usually this means tons of really good food at fancy places and lots of cocktails. It will really challenge me. I'm packing a small ice chest with snacks to take with me. I know that sounds weird, but I just don't want to lose it.

Everyone seems to be doing really well.

Spay, your diet looks better than mine...I'm still envious about the martini's. When I get back perhaps I'll have to check out ww again...

Paige

Hehe, I meant I was assuming it was both you and your dh's anniversary together--lol! I hope you have had a wonderful time.

efmf, it sounds like you got the hang of posting. Welcome!

Take care All,
Melissa
