Hi Everyone:
Was away from this site for a couple days, can't believe all the posts !! Sounds like we all are "ready & willing" !! O.K., everyone has "shamed me" into removing the clothes from the rack (treadmill), dusting it off, and getting on it. Will do it as soon as I finish here. Trying really hard to get back "on track" too. No specific diet, just "cut back" portions, avoid the chocolate, *which for me is at the top of MY "food pyramid") getting back to eating fruits & veggies. I am like spaypets, I find if I eat breakfast it is worse for me, even eggs. When I don't eat breakfast, seems like I snack less. When I do eat breakfast of ANY kind, I find that by 3 or 4 pm my blood sugar goes so low that I have to eat anything sweet I can get my hands on. Don't know if that's because I have never eaten breakfast, even when I was young, or have some kind of weird metabolism. Anyway, I am trying to do "sensible" lunch (today turkey sandwich w/ lo-fat mayo on whole wheat bread & a diet Dr. Pepper) Soda has been another of my faves, and have"learned" to drink only diet sodas. Only a few I like, but it's enough for now. Supper tonite will be baked chicken breasts, brown rice, & salad. We do have salad with almost every meal around here, love it !!! Almost all the "goodies" from the holidays are gone, and there will be NO MORE brought into this house !! (Hubby has already had the "lecture") !! He can go out & have his ice cream (haha) Anyway, I think we are all putting forth an honest effort, and say "Onward & Upward"!!! (Oops- should say "Onward & Downward - to the pounds !!!) janiej |

WW online boards SERIOUSLY need a moderator!
OK you guys, here I am!
Can I first express my absolute horror at some of the posts I just read on the WW online boards... I read one thread about tips on how to incorporate more veggies in your diet, and it was totally fine, but THEN I visited the "Tip of the Day" board and OMG! It's like a preschool full of little angry monkeys, except the monkeys would have 100% more respect and manners.Maybe I'm spoiled from being here, but these people were brutal, calling each other names, posting personal attacks on each other, you name it. The tools are great and help me track my water, vitamins, and exercise, but YEESH, those boards...I ran for my life! I KNEW I should have just stayed on the GOOD boards, and I will from now on. Now, welcome to Lissa! Congrats on taking control of your health. Welcome back janiej. Congrats to Gina & Kayla on your "losses"! I'm on day 2 of my WW points plan and seem to be doing OK. New favorite snack: baby carrots & fresh pico de gallo. I weigh in next Wed. so I'll let you know what the results were. I'll BBL. Keep up the good work everyone!

Dear Dieters:
Today is day four of my South Beach Diet. I need sugar now!!! First of all, I don't really like vegetables, except for salad once in a while, celery and brocolli (covered in cheese). I am so, so sick of veggies already (whine) and I really don't like chicken breasts. I think I need to find another diet. I'll stay on this one until I talk to my nutritionist, but darn it! I loved being on Atkins! I'm envious of all the Atkins dieters! Ok, just venting. I'm going to go home, hit the treadmill and munch on a carrot stick, prior to gagging down whatever dried out fish is on the menu tonight! Paige |

Hey guys !!
I did what I said earlier - "dusted off the treadmill" - did it for 20 minutes (have to start SLOW) - might as well have been 20 hours !! Felt like it anyway !! NO snacking this afternoon, had angel hair spaghetti with marinara sauce (NOT out of a jar - too much extra stuff in jars !!) , a salad with red wine vinegar & olive oil, and a piece of garlic bread (made with whole wheat). Day 1 - so far a success, but I have the whole evening to go !!!! May be back for support !! Pie is "beckoning' me !! Please - tell it to quit "calling my name" !!!!!!!!!!!! Got to get through to Day 2 !!!!! janie |

Lissa, you had lost a lot of weight. Good job!
Well, I think I've been in denial about being overweight...there I said it--lol! I have always said as long as I feel good and am healthy, that's the important thing. It is important, but I know as I get older, it will be more difficult to lose the weight. I am going to start with a tad more moderation in my diet. I need a way of life change, not just a diet. I have a Total Gym, which I LOVE, but I don't have room to use it where it can be away from my small children. If I had the money, I would honestly join the gym where I do have a buddy to work out with. Happy healthy living to all of you!! ![]()

Ok well this is day 3 for me... Ok so I ate a little more today than I have been eating since I am in Ketio's now...
Today I had ...... Lunch 3 TBS. Taco Meat 1 TBS. Guacamolie Pork Skins 2 String Cheese Dinner 2 pieces of Chicken Brest w/ BBQ (carb well sauce) 1/2 C. Green Beans and Salad All together I had 15g. of Carbs. So tonight I am going to treat myself to either popcorn, or a piece of an Atkins Bar. And then I am going to work out for 20 minutes instead of 15 minutes tonight. So I had a weak moment today.. I kids were eating laughy taffy and I love that... Colyn said you want a piece mom? I said oh yeah.. But then remebered OH NO I CAN'T!!!! But boy did I want it though...Ok Janie the pie is not calling your name, I told it to stop... ![]() Welcome Michelle.... That is the first step admitting that you need to lose a little weight... Come on you can do it too.. If I can do it, you can do it... We can support each other... ![]() Ok have a great night everyone... I will be around tomorrow. But I will gone to visit my daddy this weekend. I will try to check form there if I can. But don't count on it.. Gina

Just bought "athletic shoes"
Okay, I know this country has an absolute obession for athletic shoes or tennis shoes or whatever they're called, but I hate them. I think they are really ugly...but my feet hurt so I just bought a pair. I haven't owned a pair of these things since middle school! I'm doing 5000 steps at the Wellness Center and working my way up to 10,000 steps a day. I know that's not very much yet, but propelling 300+ pounds takes a lot of effort, especially when that 300 pounds likes it's computer A LOT and spends most her day sitting her butt in front of it for both work and fun. Wow...I have such a blister on the bottom of my foot after a two weeks of walking in inproper shoes. The center was closed tonight because of a basketball game so THANK GOD I got the night off. But since I couldn't exercise...(I'd walk outside but 'tis not a night fit for man nor beast) I caved and went shopping for proper foot gear...I feel so "mainstream'.

Nike has a pair of socks that are awesome for working out in. I don't even remember what they are called (maybe some of you know) but they keep your feet dry and they are so comfortable. Wearing those helped my feet out a lot while working out. They are pricy, about $7 a pair, but I think it's worth it.
Way to go Lissa, goin' mainstream--lol!

Everyone is doing so great!!!!!!!
I made it to Curves today for Day 2!!!!!!! I feel so good about accomplishing that. I used to tell myself that I was too tired to go and then now realized that I have MORE energy after I go. Root me on as I try my hardest to keep it up. Tomorrow is a skip day but I will return on Friday (don't want to overdue it w/ the muscles. AllBoys: Turning down Laughy Taffy? Good for you. That would have been sooo hard for me. Janie: Great job working out today! Lissa: Wow! Stair climbing! You go, girl! COngrats on the new shoes! I LIVE in them! LOL OK, I know this is off topic but I just really looked at the printout of my weigh-in and almost freaked out when I saw that my bust measurement was 40"!!!!!!!! What is that about? I've been wearing a 36 for the last 5 years. No wonder they were so tight!!!!!!LOL I think I was REALLY in denial!! Now, my new mission! To find some big girl bras!!! I am still in shock!!! Sorry for the confession! kllee |

kllee - ROOTING YOU ON !!
And for pete's sake, please "treat" yourself to a new bra!! Lissa- new shoes?? You really ARE "committing" yourself to this project !! Good for you !!! mj77 - You are so right. I REFUSED to go a bra size bigger until I was so "squooshed" I couldn't get my shoulders to "stand straight". Once I broke down & got the bigger size, was so much more comfortable. Hopefully, soon I will be "swimming" in it !! Each time I have lost weight, that seems to be what goes away first - go figure !! Gina- thank you so much for talking to the pie It "beckoned" my hubby & he ate when I wasn't looking, so I was "forced" to eat an apple tonite instead !! To everybody - going out of town for a few days. Wedding anniversary, hubby thinks we need some "down time" to ourselves, I agree. Just decided it tonight. Now I need to be EXTRA careful, you know how bad "eating out" is !! Good grief, only one day in, and I have to deal with this !! But I WILL be strong !!! Talk to you all in a couple days.I have gone OVER 24 HOURS without chocolate !!!!! Like I said earlier, it is the TOP of MY food pyramid !! janie |

Not a great day yesterday, dietwise
I am glad to see all of you are doing so well! I was gone most of the day - left the house at 12:30 and did not come back until 7:30! I hadn't planned to be out that long, so I didn't pack any food.
Yesterday's food: 1)Cream of wheat w/ vanilla protein powder and almonds 2) (ate out, Thai) Spicy beef salad and small portion of rice - ok, but also had 1 basil roll and a cup of the coconut/mushroom soup, part of lunch special 3) Hazelnut latte w/ skim milk 4) (ate out w/ husband) grilled mahi mahi, green beans, 1/3 baked potato w/some sour cream, and -- this is bad -- three little hushpuppies I should have abstained from the hushpuppies for sure, and probably the latte... but on the good side, I chose water with lemon instead of coke for a drink at both restaurants... I really don't like diet coke and I feel extra proud about lunch because I LOVE to have coke with a spicy beef salad (my best girlfriends and I frequent this Thai place downtown for lunch ... the salad is appropriate "diet fare" as it is spiced beef over green veggies in a vinegar/lime sauce). Anyway, again, no exercise, but we are painting the baby's room this weekend, I am pretty sure, so I think I will be getting plenty of exercise. Since I haven't exercised this week, I probably won't take my "free" day this week (on BFL you get one day per week of eating whatever you want)... or I will consider yesterday my free day... also, since I haven't exercised AT ALL, I will consider this week "practice!" lol (but still going to stay on the eating plan!). ON the good side, I have already lost 4 pounds since Monday... had to share today although I think Mondays will be my official weigh in day, and I am sure mine is water weight, too. We just finished the last thing we have to do to get our homestudy done... now we will just be waiting for our state background checks to clear and the write-up. So now I have started looking at the dossier list, and I am a little anxious about gathering this stuff together and getting everyones signatures with a notary, etc. Hopefully I can get through this without any nervous binging ... that is one of my problems; I am a horrible binge eater... but, I have taken some control over that in the past year and a half. I have double anxiety because I am also SUPPOSED to be working on my thesis so I can graduate this spring -- I don't think that can possibly happen, but I sure need to try and get the entire first draft done. To all of you... you are doing great; keep up the great work. Janie - have a great anniversary weekend! It's good you are taking some alone time with your husband. Congratulations on dusting off the treadmill. Kllee - How great for you that you went to Curves twice! I have thought about joining, but I don't know if the exercise program is right for me. I love the commercials though, and it seems like they are very motivating. Lissa - I need some new gym shoes, too. I have been putting it off because when we started saving money for the adoption, I decided I wouldn't purchase any new shoes until we completed the adoption... but I really think my shoes are worn out, and I know I will also need a pair of shoes for a wedding that I am going to be in in May. Maybe I can do one of those "Buy one, get one 1/2 price" sales. I think it is great you finally bought some... they may be ugly, but you will be "in fashion" at the fitness center... everybody's wearing them, right? Gina - that is great that you have already lost 4 pounds! Glad you are eating more now that you are in Ketosis. I am craving guacomole now, reading your food list (I love guacomole). I foresee a homemade mexican dinner ahead on my free day next week! Maybe I will have lost another pound by then. MJ - I will have to check out those socks when I go get some shoes. My husband has some cushy socks for running.. but he is very proprietary over them... he works out a lot with two buddies from work. Paige - Can you cook some of the veggies in the microwave in a baggie with some fat-free italian dressing? My brother and SIL did the South Beach diet and swear by it. You might want to purchase (or check your library for) any accompanying cookbooks that were written... you may find easy and delicious combinations or ideas that you never thought of. I am not that familiar with the South Beach diet. Can you eat sweet potatos? That is my favorite vegetable. coco - I am glad you have a good alternative here outside the WW message boards. That is weird that they have no moderator... I would have thought they would. spaypets - I wish I could motivate myself to get up early in the morning and go to the gym. I AM going to try to start getting up early and getting some work done, then use the gym mid-morning as a "reward" to break from reading/writing... but that starts on Monday! I think it is great that you are getting serious about losing the 5 pounds in order to maintain your ideal weight. I would do that, too - losing the weight in the first place is a lot of time and energy (psychological and physical) and, sometimes, money, so why not fight to keep your ideal body? Besides, the real focus is (as it should be) lifetime health so we can be around for our family and be good role models... and yo-yo weight loss isn't healthy. Well, I have been at this for a while... I need to make my "to do" list, send some e-mails, and get out the door! D. ![]()
