sad day...

I wonder how tough it would be to move to Australia? I'm sure they'd take pity on us Americans stuck here with four more years... and at least let us in as temporary residents... anyone wanna come?

I'll join you...

I guess Australia is far enough away. Any clues as to the political climate there? I know they've made amazing adoption reforms from the days of Rabbit Proof Fence. I assume they have equal rights for ALL of their citizens, and a separation of church and state?

No doubt none of us would be welcome in Europe! I suppose Canada is always a possibility, too?

I'm thinking church and state is seperate. Either way, they have kangaroo's! Their adoption laws are a lot different. I'm not a huge fan of their adoption laws, but every pregnant woman gets federal help, so their laws on aiding families are tons better. I used to really really want to move there... Oh well, I have a daughter and her dad wont let me move out of the country unless its to Canada. (I live in WI so Canada is about 3 hours away)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Canada would take pity on us! Europe though I think they pretty much are happy we're miserable and want to see us suffer...

My 19-year old called me at midnight last night and informed me she's moving to Canada. I giggled at the time but after reading some of the posts on this and other forums today I wonder if she isn't on to something. I wonder if I can find a good job there?

Canadian officials made clear on Wednesday that any U.S. citizens so fed up with Bush that they want to make a fresh start up north would have to stand in line like any other would-be immigrants -- a wait that can take up to a year.

I voted for Bush, so I dont plan on moving...but I thought you guys would like to see that, before you start packing

Darn... Oh well. How bout Mexico Brandy? Are they accepting immigrants? Can we do a trade? Some of us for some of them wanting to come here?

SO is there anywhere that will take us?

PS and I was just about all done packing! Started last night! Now I've got to unpack! LOL

Well...I am one of those strange Kerry-voters who does not hate Bush.....

This election to me was truly about the lesser of two evils.... and even there, depending on what issue I'm thinking of, sometimes Bush comes out on top for me.

So I guess I'm not DEPRESSED but I AM very, very sad at the step back in equal gay rights. It wasn't exactly a one-issue election for me, but if I had to pick one, that'd be it....

There is this horrible lump in my stomach whenever I think of all those states voting for state constitutional amendments defining marriage.... and about the justices Bush is sure to pick....

oh gosh, yeah I'm packing too, can I come with you wherever you go, Michelle? Hey maybe some little island in the Caribbean will take us...

My mom keeps talking about Costa Rico and I really think this time she might emigrate. A friend's parents are thinking Wales. I have family in Switzerland and Spain and my daughter still has her Indian passport.

India

It's cheap and they speak English. There is problem of the crowds and the uncleanliness, but maybe it's better in the countryside.

I loved it there and would love to live there for a year. But emmigrating...wish I didn't like my house so much!

I say that we start a movement for the Northeast, Great Lakes, and West Coast to secede from the Union (or better yet, we'll keep our constitution and union and have those other states secede to formalize the theocracy ... oops ... did I say that?)

A quote from today's paper:

"Tom Coburn, the new senator from Oklahoma, has advocated the death penalty for doctors who perform abortions and warned that "the gay agenda" would undermine the country. He also characterized his race as a choice between "good and evil" and said he had heard there was "rampant lesbianism" in Oklahoma schools."
