Now I'm curious - how many furry children does everyone have?
I see from Cleo's thread that are a lot of people who love animals. I'm curious who your pets are.
We have ton's, mostly rescued strays. Most of my ages for them are vet's estimated ages. Tasha - cat - 5 years old - Siamese mix. The only cat we picked instead of the other way around, lol. Kaylee - cat - 4 years old - Tiger striped Showed up on my porch and marched in like she owned the place, lol. Riley - cat - 4 years old - looks like Cleo but bigger. Found in the parking lot of my hair cutting place. Princess - cat - 5 years old - tiger striped. Showed up here pregnant about 3 years ago. Had her spayed and vaccinated. She shows up every October and stays in the house through March then disappears again till the next October. Crowley - cat - 3 years old - black. One of the kittens from Princess's litter. Cleopatrick - cat - 1 year old - picture shown, lol. Kitten from a litter a stray cat had in my parents pole barn. Jinx, Cory, Saucy, Toto, Addy, and Calypso - kittens - 6 months old - two black, 3 tiger striped, and one funky colored. Had a pregnant stray show up here in Feb. She was a lynx point siamese and she couldn't tolerate my other cats. Lilone from here hooked me up with a Siamese rescue place and they found a home for her. I couldn't make myself find homes for the kittens knowing what I know about how people treat animals. I've found too many strays and I just didn't want to take the chance someone would dump them .Dakota - dog - 2 years old lab/german shorthair- found in the Walmart parking lot. Nikita - dog - 1 year old - lab/malamute - got from the pound and only the second animal that we picked out, lol. And we can't forget Ricky and Lucy my son's African Dwarf frogs, and Feddy the betta fish. Tell me about your pets please . Who, what kind, how old, and how did you get them? |

Shadow-German Shepard 5 years old. She's our guard dog, who happens to think she is still a little puppy that can sit in your lap.
Cali-Cat 14 year old cat, that was dumped in our driveway when she was just a baby. Lexi-Mini Schnauzer 4 years old. Spoiled rotten princess dog. Holli- Mini Schnauzer 1 year old. She thinks she is a human. She goes everywhere with me. She sleeps next to me on my pillow, but no she's not spoiled or anything. Oh,crap I forgot...we have a snake named slimmy. He is not in our house by my choice. I HATE SNAKES, but with 2 boys what's a girl to do???? I am out numbered, unless you count the fact the animals are girls..Haha.

Usually we have a very full house--but, it seems the old guys have passed on and with a one-year old we plan to stick with fish for awhile!
Right now the Pet roll is; Wilbur--8 years old Cat--sufferes from kidney issues and costs about $600.00 every other year to have is plumbing cleared...White and gray and has a face like a cartoon...best cuddler award! He sleeps on my Hip every night...you should have seen him jump when my mom spent the night and I had her sleep in our bed...Wilbur came downstairs in the morning and I moved on the couch! He nearly jumpped out of his fur... Mom said he slept on her hip all night and now she had a croooked back... And we have EC (Enemy Cat) a stray that insists we are his owner...he sleeps in the garage and eats three times as much food as Wilbur... I wanted to have him fixed, but couldn't find him for a few weeks...when he came back he had stiches over his eye so it appears he is supposed to belong to someone else? They must have a dog? Anyway he is enemy cat because his whole goal in life is to get into the house so he can pee and kick Wilburs butt..... where is that cat it is really time I fix that jerk... And we keep a 100 gallon salt water fish tank...they all have names but lack personality....and it is hard to cuddle with a fish..so it is more like a big painting that takes hours out of my life maintaining and cost a fortune to keep going.... Oh I need another kitty, lost two this year one the year before and my daughter took hers to College with her....

I have King crimson a 2 year old wired haired pointing griffon rescued from the pound, Laya a 1 year old husky mix also rescued from the pound and Methos a 3 year old pure bred german shepherd that we found running along some rail road tracks. Much to my sister's dismay I stopped and offered him a ride.
He's a huge dog and scared my sister to death but he's a sweet heart. No one claimed him so he is a member of our family now. Laya was a puppy when we got her. She started throwing the first day we had her, come to find out she had parvo. But she recovered very quickly.(1 night at the hospital) She is our princess and the top dog . She knows she the alpha female. King was our first dog and was abused by his last owners. He had alot of behavior problems, but with alot of love he has come around. He is on his best behavior now and is the sweetest dog you'd ever meet.Great idea for a thread! Michelle ![]() |

Can I post about pets we have had?
...since we have been in our current place just for a year, and will be moving shortly, havent had time to accumulate all the strays that usually land up on our doorstep, but it would be nice to reminisce.
Tyson - German Shepherd, such a looker, the son my mom never had. Trixie - little imp, terrier and very independent. Ribbit - Easter bunny - present from my sisters boyfriend. Big Bunny - Ribbits boyfriend, the neighbours pet. Isaac, Joshua, and Abraham- outcome of Ribbit and Big Bunny's relationship, born in my clothes cupboard on Christmas Day. We ordered Chinese noodles and called the neighbours over to celebrate. Later discovered that they were all girls and so rechristened them Isabel, Jo-Jo and Abigail. Pretty much like Cleopatrick, just the other way around... Kaajal/Pepper and Sandy - my two sweetheart bunnies, went to the bunnery (?) in the sky, just as soon as I married and left the house. Charlie - wee chick discovered in a college classroom. Cat almost got him once, and storming heaven with our prayers seems to have worked - he grew up to be a huge cockerel and chased all the auntys in saris pecking at their slippers, so had to give him away. Mischief: Siamese kitten, more like a dog... Vicky, Chickoo, Buda - assorted birds that came in as foundlings, all of whom were dearly loved. Assorted fish - Mango, Tango and Angel - just some of the names I remember, gave up the naming once their numbers crossed twenty and then went over almost two hundred.... Am waiting now to move on, DH wants a lab but am happy to take anything that finds its way home...as you can see we had quite a zoo...and that does not include 3 noisy kids, my mom really did have her hands full. This is interesting indeed......... ![]()

How fun! I love talking 'bout my babies!
We have a 6.5 yr old Tourtoishell Calico named Calico Cat (Cali) We got her because we were looking at her sister in a pet shop and she got out of the cage and hid under a pallet of dog food. After about half an hour trying to get her out we decided we'd keep her. (she's kinda prissy!) We have a 3.5 yr old Great Pyramese mix dog named Jayco. He looks kinda like a St Bernard/ Lassie dog who we found in a animal shleter. We were looking at a different dog and when we seen him he ran away from us......... so of course we kept him since cali did the same thing, good choice! He thinks he's a person. We have a 2.5 yr old grey and white cat named Turbo. We went to petsmart with Jayco after finding out we were infertile and decided we needed another baby. Asked the lady with the kittens what one was the wildest so he could put up with the big dog........ we got what we asked for. Turbo suites him very well!He thinks he's a dog. Carrie

Couldn't resist this post
Sounds like I have some kindred spirits out there! I was VP of our local Humane Society for 3 years, and we have 14 acres, so those are my excuses
!Here's the rundown: Dogs: Elmo-4 yr old Great Pyrenees (the only "purchased" dog but still a rescue) Sugar- ? yr old Shaggy Mutt with sweet underbite, adopted from the shelter Louise - 5 yr old Boxer adopted from NC Boxer Rescue Luke - ? yr old Boxer adopted from the shelter (foster dog who stayed!!!!!) Cats: Skeeter - Ancient Siamese willed to us by a deceased brother, definitely in charge of the household Delilah Wanda Jane (aka Peep) - Lovely tuxedo kitty adopted from the shelter Squirrel - Tiger cat found by friends in the woods as a kitten Mimi- Tiger cat identical to Squirrel, but a girl, he found her somewhere and brought her to our barn, then showed her the kitty door Simon - Last year's kitty foundling - foster kitten who stayed! Horses: Zena - Lovely 7 yr old Morgan mare, my main squeeze Mystique - 10 yr old Morgan mare, with big doe eyes Picasso - 5 yr old Arab cross gelding, been here since birth, our big dog of a horse. Ace - Weanling Morgan colt, in the process of being purchased. And their have been various other critters to pass through, then head on to other parts, Jiminy and Aurora the dairy goats, Bitsy the beagle who gave birth to 6 pups (all girls) in our bathroom on St. Patrick's day, the little dog Feisty who got lost, found a new home on the coast, then got reunited with her original family, and many many other puppies and kittens found and found homes. Thanks for a fun post!! And yes, all but the horses come inside and they'd like to! That's a lot of feet! We use a shop vac.

This is where echaos comes from:
E is for Edgar, 8 years old, our oldest cat, white with black spots (got him to match the dog and our floors! LOL) we got him from the vet when we took Charlie in for his shots C is for Charlie, our Dalmation/AmStaff who passed away from kidney disease this past February, we got him from the Toronton SPCA and he was with us for 7 great years H is for Hazel, 5 years old, a beige cat who hates me but LOVES Hilary, we got her from a co-worker who couldn't keep her A is for Alice, 6 years old, another black and white cat who thinks she is people, we got her from the vet when we took Charlie in for his shots O is for Oscar, 4 years old, another black and white cat, we got him from a co-worker who couldn't keep him S is for Simon, 7 years old, a silver grey cat, we got him from the vet when we took Charlie in for his shots Additions since the creation of my login name: S is for Squid, 5 years old, a beige cat, full sister to Hazel but from the next litter, we got her from a co-worker who couldn't keep her D is for Daisy, probably 1 year old, a black and brown calico that friends rescued and brought to us for some TLC. She arrived very pregnant and soon after had 5 kittens. We have just found loving homes for all of them. It got to the point that we were scared to take Charlie to the vet because we knew there would be another cat in our life (not that this is a bad thing!!) and my co-workers have all been told that they CANNOT offer me another cat because of course I would take it.If any of you are creative and can put together a new name for me with the additions, I would be greatly appreciative, as I haven't been able to come up with anything. Other letters to use are A for Andy, H for Hilary and L for Liam. So E C H A O S S D L H A GOOD LUCK! And Thanks for trying.

Pblair: a 17-year-old Golden??? Wow!
Current roll call: Rex: 4 yr old 40lb male yellow lab, "adopted" from rescue group when his entire litter was abandoned at only FIVE WEEKS OLD. He sleeps in bed w/DH and I, between us, head on the pillow. Mia: 11 yr old 70lb female yellow lab, actually belongs to a friend who relocated to England, but since they've relaxed their rules, we're shipping her over before the end of the year. She LOVES our daughter and actually caught Molly when she almost fell down the stairs! Lets Molly pull her ears, jab at her eyes... great dog. Ariel: 7 yr old female Balinese mix cat -- would prefer it if everyone and everything in our house disappeared except she and DH. Cow: 7 yr old b&w cat, male. Dog lover's cat -- plays fetch. I had a dream that we got a 2nd cat for Ariel, a b&w kitten named Cow. That weekend we went to the Humane Society and there he was! We decided it was destiny. |

Oh no, not boring! Ferret's are the most amazing pets! I had an albino ferret for her whole life until she passed away at the ripe old age of 7. She loved Ice cream and was so much fun to watch.
Yep, a 17 year old golden retriever, the vet can't believe he's still going. He isn't very active but he's a very lovable dog ![]() Pat |
