Question Possessiveness

Hi everyone!

Lian is going through a possessive stage and I am alittle worried about it. Is it normal to go through this stage at 3?

About a week ago she had a nightmare that we were going to change her name. She won't share things with adults or other kids because she think they will take it home. She got upset when a sunflower I got for her died and I wanted to throw it away.

Can you be possessive of people? She will tell me she misses her grandparents right after we left them and last night she said the reason she didn't sleep well was because she missed my husband's parents.

I think alittle bit of this might come from Dora and swiper because she SCREAMS, swiper no swiping multiple time, at the tv when he comes on. When my husband and her play a game that swiper will come and take something sometimes she can get very upset. Two days ago she hugged four things they were playing with and we had to give her a pillow case to put them in to carry them around until she calmed down and forgot about the situation.

She's alittle sensitive to things at times and she has been tired because of all the summer activity so that is making things worse.

Thank you for your thoughts!

Jake is 33 months and one of his favorite words these days is "Mine." Sometimes, just about everything he sees is "Mine."

We are working with him and telling him a better word is "share." We tell him it's OK to have your own toys and things, but it's good to share them, too.

Some days are better than others. He's had a few tantrums over things when we take them from him.

We haven't run across any issues involving grandparents. He loves to visit them, but when it's time to leave he gives them a kiss and a hearty "Bye. He knows where we are going then and that's "Home!"

My daughter gets that way. If we sleep in the same bed, she will sometimes grab my hand and wrap my arm under her arm and tug and not let go.
Gotta just understand what they went thru. I can't even imagine the thought of an infant crying itself to sleep night after night. Or wanting to be cuddled and having to resort to the lovie blanket. That has to leave a primal wound.

Thank you both.

I figured it was a combination of a stage and something related to her adoption. I like to get other's experiences so I can try and handle the situation properly.

She is usually good with us about sharing, but others she has a hard time and I think it could be about trust.

Now I know I need to have lots of patience and love with this.

Thanks again!
