We will be planting a garden, but we follow the old "Farmer's Almanac" rules:
Never till until after Easter.
Never plant until after Blackberry winter.

We will plant tomatoes, They will look scrawny and we will say "There won't be enough tomatoes from those plants." So we will plant more tomatoes. Then they will all take off growing like Jack's beanstalk and we will have so many tomatoes we will start giving them to the postman, the garbage collectors, just anyone who slows down while they drive past our house!
We will also plant a reasonable amount of yellow squash, okra, and green bell peppers.
My daughter will take one section and plant several watermelon seeds, which will produce a vine about 40 feet long with one or two melons on it. But my grandson loves that section the best, and "talks" to the melons everyday until they are big enough to eat -- usually around the last day of summer!

LOL I never have luck with watermelon either. Although I did plant some honeydew this year.
What's a blackberry winter? Never heard of that.
We've always planted during a new moon. I was told a long time ago that's the best time to plant.

My favorite is lemon cucumber. They're round cucumbers, and you can eat them right off the vine like an apple. They get thick skins on them if you let them go too ripe though.

We are a bit overwhelmed here so we are skipping our traditional garden. We usually plant tomatos and all kinds of peppers and chilis.

This year we will only do corn, mammoth sunflowers, and maybe some pumpkins.
