Moving during process?
Hello,
Does anyone have info on the ramifications of moving during the process? Our LID is 3/21/07 and we are pondering a move to NYC (currently live in Minneapolis). Has anyone else experienced this? Does it mean an entire home study from NY state? I would appreciate any information! Thanks, Craig |

Hi Craig,
You will need a home study amendment done should you move during process. If you move to a different state I'm sure it is a little more detail as well because your study will need to meet the requirements for that state as well. I would check with your home study agency to ask regarding the cost for this, they should be able to give you an idea. Not sure, but, You may need a new study if they are not licensed for the new state. Good luck!

Depending on how far you in the process, if you move, you can wait til the second home study is needed due to the time of wait. We were DTC in April 07, and moved in May 07, but still waiting to do our second HS to co-inside with our other updated information that needs to be redone anyway. (already reapplied for the I-600, but we have till September this year to do the fingerprints and HS renewal.)

There may also be some requirements in the new state that may be different, also, so keep that in mind. We had this possibility come up during our wait, but it turned out we didn't move until several months after our daughter came home. We did do a lot of research, though. I would suggest finding a homestudy agency in the new state that can talk you through the process.
