Question monsters vs aliens

Our nephew is having his 4th bday party this Saturday and one of the things that they are going to be doing is seeing Monsters vs aliens. I am not too into movies like this so have no idea what to expect so I was wondering if anyone has seen it and if it would be ok for an almost three yr old.

Lian has seen Ratatouille, minus the exterminator scene and Madagascar. Other movies such as Cars, Nemo, and one or two others either she wasn't interested in or like Nemo found the shark scenes too scary.

I am leaning towards not going but at times I feel like I am overprotective, so I thought I'd check before just saying no.

Thanks
Christine

I don't know about it either. Cady liked Nemo. I thought this movie would be made in the like of Monsters INC. Which she also loved. But when I watch the trailer, it seems more like The Incredibles, which frankly, was more geared toward adult humor, and became a bit long winded in the middle. She ended up liking the Disney on Ice Incredibles more than she liked the movie itself.
It would be kind of sad not going to your nephew's birthday party, but then again, you have to weigh it all out. Have you seen any reviews on it yet, or watched any of the trailers?
Personally, I don't think we're going to be seeing it. But only because it seems to full of adult humor that she might not get, not because it looks scary. We didn't take her to the movies till she was 3 and a half. And even then, she was barely ready for it. So, Im sure you have to take age into account, and sitting for the entire movie, too.

Thanks Karen. Not going to that part isn't a big deal, but I didn't want to not take her just because I thought it would be too scary.

I think we'll not go partly because the possibility of her not liking it/scariness of it and because of the length.

Thanks again.

5 year old

HI! I took my daughter, who is 5 1/2 to see the movie last Friday. She loved it. I can't remember any scarey parts- she laughed her head off. She's still quoting stuff from it- even 3 days later :-)
I also liked that they have the option of seeing it in 2 d or 3 d- the 3d is nice, but with smaller kids, the classes aren't so cool, and the extra expense isn't fun. She chose the 3d version- I didn't notice alot of special 3d effects like most movies, but there were a couple.
I might have missed something, since my daughter is older, but she seemed fine with it- not scarey at all- and not directed towards adults. I took her to see Coraline- she was so scared- I can't believe that was a kids movie! I wish I would have looked into that movie before taking her to it :-(
I saw alot of families with little babies & toddlers at the theater- and I never saw anyone walk out- or heard any kids crying or scared- but I'd hate to say it was 100% fine & have your child scared. I only have eyes for a 5 year old right now :-)
Good luck!
