Saying goodbye!

We finally made our decision to write the letter to withdrawn our application. In my heart, I was already there but my husband still needed to come to terms with it.

This weekend we had a heart to heart and decided that we couldn't hold on to something that wasn't going to happen for us. We need to close the door so that another one can open.

I just finished writing our withdrawal letter, which I will submit tomorrow. After this post, I'll be deleting all my links for all adoption sites (including RQ - it will be soooo hard!!) and looking towards what our future holds. I'm finally at peace with it. Sad, but at peace with our decision.

I want to wish all of you still waiting for your forever families, the best of luck and God speed to your little ones!

WOW. Sad to see another leave, but glad you've made peace with it.
I hope everything works out for you. I think if we were considering other facets of being a family, we would also leave the program so that we could go on with our lives. It must have been a very difficult decision, but one that will give you closure.

Best of luck to you. It's sad to see you reach this decision, but we're glad you are at peace with it.

Your LID is the same as ours, so we can't even image what you must have been going through. We don't know what we would be thinking if we hadn't gone the SN route and ended up with Jake. This wait is just so hard for so many people.

Best wishes for the future.

Hi,

I'm very happy for you that you have found a path that brings you comfort and peace of mind. Like others, I'm sad to see doors shut for families. I've seen it happen so much in the past 2 years in the China, Vietnam and Taiwan programs. Like all these families, I hope that another door opens and you are able to continue to build your family. Best of luck.

Curious

Just curious-
Why do people send a letter of withdrawal in?
I mean, if there will be another 3 year wait, alot could happen to speed things up, slow them down, change in your family life, etc.
If I wanted to or needed to drop out, I doubt I'd write a letter till much closer to the referral time frame, in case I changed my mind or whatever.
Just curious- couldn't figure that one out- unless of course it's for closure or to get out of "line" for others.
GOOD LUCK!
Melissa

Just guessing here, that it's a matter of closure. If you are sure that you're persuing other avenues to continue your family, and know that this is not the avenue, why keep it logged in? I think it's also the decent thing to do for CCAA, to keep them from having to continue to file paper work that will go nowhere. And the decent thing to do for others behind you. But, mostly, I would do it for closure.

I've also seen folks leave because they were adopting from a country that didn't allow concurrent adoptions. I know China does, but some countries don't.

I am so sorry! It breaks my heart to see families drop out after all they've been through to even get here and meanwhile, children are still waiting.

Good luck!

I agree.... make up your minds then just do nothing. We let everything expire and only starting renewing things when they finally got to a couple months before our LID. While everything sat expired there wasn't anything we had to pay or file.
I800 approval in now just running about 30 days.
