wetting through the diaper

Hello! Just a quick question. My 17 month old daughter sleeps 7pm-7am, and has a big bottle of milk before going to bed (around 8-9 ounces). So of course, every morning she wakes up soaked (through to her onesie). Many, many mornings she'll wake up around 6 and I'll change her onsie, pjs and diaper, and then she'll go back to sleep until 7. But sometimes she doesn't go back to sleep. Now she is giving up her morning nap, so I really want her to sleep until 7.

We've found the huggies holds it in a little better than pampers... any other tricks? My friend told me about overnight diapers (I'm not sure of the brand) but I didn't see any at the supermarket last time.. I need to look again. Also someone told me to drop the nighttime bottle, but I just love it so much.

Huggies Overnights are the greatest invention ever! Our Target always carries them.

Diaper Doublers are also a good option for 'backup.' I couldn't buy them where I live, but I ordered them online. I also used maxi-pads on occasion for extra absorbancy. (The cheap, super thick kind.) I never had luck with double diapering, but many people swear by it.

Good luck!

We are using Huggies Overnights and going up a size. It's better, but doesn't always hold! Yuck!

Bonding at night

I think that you should lose the BIG bottle and just give her a smaller amount before bedtime. Her bladder cannot hold the liquid hence the massive amount in the morning.

Try giving her 4oz or less and spend time with her at night maybe reading a book, singing to her in the dark, or just your touch on her back is what she really craves.

I did this with my son as he had an overactive bladder because he too was soaked. I just cut the nighttime feeding to a smaller amount, sang to him until he was asleep, and then placed him in his crib. It really worked wonders. He sleeps to 7am easily and dry.

After he was two, I skipped days giving the nighttime feeding until it was gone and made sure his tummy was full with dinner 2 hours before bedtime. This helps give him time to digest dinner before sleeping on a full stomach. This helps his metabolism so not to get "husky " early AND he always went potty before he went to sleep. This helps cut the nighttime wetting down too.

Hope this helps and remember, this is just what worked for me. Good Luck!

I agree with the PP, maybe less the amount and use a sippy a it may take her longer to drink.
I also second the next size up. I never used diaper doublers myself as I used cloth, but did use dispoables at night for extra absorbing.

OK- very good suggestions! My hubby has told me that I am babying her a lot more than my older dd. I am going to cut down the huge bottle. The funny thing is that we weren't even realizing how much milk we would put in it and last night I saw 10 oz! I am so embarrassed. I am going to cut that down to half or less, and then I will look at Target for the overnighters. I think all of your suggestions were very, very good, exactly what I was looking for!! Sometimes you need someone else out of the situation to tell you a common sense answer. Thank you!!!

Update

OK: So I dropped her bottle from 10 ounces to 4-5oz, and I also found the most amazing invention (that ya'll mentioned): the Huggies overnight diapers!!!! YAY!!! She has been DRY waking up the past couple of mornings! Fantastic. Those overnight diapers are hard to find- we finally got them at Target. Best-kept secret!

Heart

My son is now 15 but when he was a baby and soaked through the diapers I found diaper liners worked great. I don't recall the brand but would find them at Walmart. It looks like a panty liner but is bigger to fit the diapers. Good luck with this... I know what a pain it can be.
