"Orphanage Donation for China Rises. The China Center for Adoption Affairs has made it official: the orphanage donation for adoptive parents of Chinese born children will rise throughout China as of January 1, 2009. The orphanage donation fee will now be calculated in RMB, in the amount of 35,000 RMB. At current exchange rates the fee is currently approximately $5,100." Rainbow Kids newsletter.

Anyone know if this will affect those who are already DTC or have been matched, or if it will just apply to those who haven't submitted the dossier?

It's my understanding that anyone traveling and picking up their child as of January 1st will have to pay the increased donation fees. The current fees are not grandfathered in for anyone, including those that receive a referral prior to January 1st.
Some of the orphanages had changes already take place several months ago, and it was effective immediately upon arrival.
My biggest concern is findig a bank that can handle that much in conversions for more than one person at a time. Our travel group will be small...maybe 3-4 families if we all continue thru to NSN route. But there are some agencies that have much larger groups. Im sure this is going to be chaos for some.
