Hi,

Very dear friends of our got "the" call today at 9:15 a.m. They
have been matched to a waiting child from the shared SN list. The
beautiful little girl has some heart needs. While they have read up on
the ASD and VSD conditions, there may be some additional heart needs.
They are in need to connect with other parents who have traveled this
journey.

If you know of any online resources I could pass along to them,
it would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure there are yahoo groups etc.

One of the families that was in my travel group has experience with heart issues. I'm not sure if she is on the board as often anymore, so I shot her an email to see if she can come here to offer any advice if the heart issues were the same type that your friends are faced with in making their decisions.

My son was born with what is often called a fatal combination if not addressed quickly: hypoplastic left heart syndrome with an intact atrial septum. After a looong year (4 open heart surgeries within 8 months, 3 caths, 5+months in the hospital) he is doing much better, thanks to an awesome CT surgeon. I'll look for the websites that were helpful to me and post them after I find them.

There is a yahoo group called chinaheartchildren which has a wealth of information. Jess has an ASD and stenosis. According to the IA doctor who looked at her file after we returned home, Jess was in cardiac failure when she was brought to the SWI and then to the hospital a couple of days later. You would never know it now - she is a bundle of energy to match any 3 year old. I also found waitingsnchildrenchina and waitingchildrenchina helpful although they aren't dedicated solely to heart issues.
