I was just curious about other online groups about China adoption. Which ones do you go on?

I'm on Adoption from China and that is really the only other one. I blog a lot and follow a lot of blogs on various topics from culture, to parenting to having grown up adopted. I also follow some anti-adoption blogs.

I am an avid viewer of rumor queen. Even though we've been home a year, I can't stay away. I also belong to several yahoo groups - international adopt MA, waiting children china, and waiting sn children china. There are also several blogs by waiting parents that I read.

When we were in China, I mentioned something seeing something on Rumor Queen to the other family we were traveling with and the mom said she had to idea who I was talking about. I was really surprised; it seems like everyone knows about Rumor Queen.

If you traveled when referrals were coming every 6 months I could understand ... but now with things reaching 3years+ I would go crazy with the little info my agency gives us.

I signed up when referrals were coming every 6 months. By the time I was DTC, it had gotten a bit longer. We waited 14 months (very short by today's standards but still a long wait when all you know is that the wait is increasing) and traveled 2/07. I joined all the yahoo groups I could find in addition to Rumor Queen's blog/forum.

For anyone, after you get your referral, you can go to Yahoo and join a forum specifically for the city or SWI your child was in.
When we first got our referral, I joined the forum for Hefei SWI, and there's a conjoining forum for pictures of the SWI. I scoured the pictures for any that looked my daughter. There have been several families that after receiving their referrals, have found pictures of their child at an early age, or of their child's nanny with other children. These are real treasures for those of us that want info and pictures of our children before they came to us. And it 's something wonderful to hold onto while you wait from referral to travel.

Thanks, Karen that is good to know. I just joined the yahoo for Michigan which is nice to have some local friends as well as my across country friends. LOL

Rumor Queen is my main one. There is also a forum over at Informed Adoption Advocates. I have actually been a part of a couple of groups that started here. We have switched locations a couple of times and eventually came up with a private forum. We have all known each other for about two years and it is much easier to post things over there. Something like that is great for a group of people who want to be able to share more personal things in a safer setting.
I also have a blog and like to check out others as well. I can remember early on in the process I would read everyone's blogs when they were traveling. I can remember Lissa's blog when they were in China. I can't wait until others read ours when we travel!

I am a member of Adopting from China, check rumor queen sometimes, watch a few blogs and I belong to the dec 06 yahoo group as well as our agency yahoo group but that is about all. I also belong to the Chongyang welfare yahoo group for Kennedy adoption.,
