Age Requirement Question
Hi!
I just turned 28 in January and I have thought all along that our dossier could not log in until the day I was 30. Through talking with several adoptive parents today *from china*, they seemed to suggest that due to the LONG waits, I might be able to login so long as I would not travel for the baby before that? My DH will be 30 this month. Any idea if this true? |

As far as I've heard, you still need to meet the requirements on the date you are logged in, not by the date you are matched.
If you hear differently, I'd love to hear that. We can't go back to China because of the new rule that says for a second marriage you have to be be married five years, and we've only been married three. |

I think SpecialK is correct. You have to each be 30 yrs old before applying for adoption. I haven't heard differently. Of the people you were speaking with, had any of them actually done the applications before they turned 30, or were they simply suggesting that it might be a possibility?
I definitely would start the process before turning 30, to get all the papers ready. But you also want to be careful with doing that too, because some of the papers will be time sensitive, and might state your current age on them, which could confuse the people receiving the documents in China, later. It's important to find and work with a trusted adoption agency right now to find out exactly what you can do prior to turning 30, and do only that.

No - your agency cannot send your dossier to China until both spouses are 30, but you can start your paperchase/do your homestudy when you are about 29.5 years old, which is what we had to do as my DH was 28 when we decided to adopt from China. So we had to wait for him to turn about 29.5 and then started the paperchase/home study process.

No agency will submit an application to China for you until you are 30. China would not log it in.
