My Agency keeps pressuring me to renew all our Expired paperwork for a Late March 06' LID. I’ve been dragging my feet watching the rate of referalls. At the present rate + the Olympics I still feel all my paperwork will run-out again, and will need to renew ($,$$$) everything yet again.

Opinions Please.

Hi we are just now renewing our paperwork. We have a fingerprint appointment and are set for it next week. YOu need to renew before your 171H expires. We requested the fees waived and they did it. Our lid is 1/15/07 and I would think you would want to wait until the last possible time to renew your paperwork. It is not based on your lid but when your homestudy and 171H expires. Ours expires in April so we need to now renew.

We missed the free renew cut-off by a week, so let Everything Expire...Our 171H expired Months Ago. I listed our LID (late March) to give an idea of ugency...or lack-there-of

I am sorry to hear that. Our 171H did expire I believe it was our homestudy that had to be intact. There are way too many expiring documents at different times! I would do what your agency tells you to at this point!

My opionion, if you qualify for the free renew, go ahead and renew. If not, wait until you are about 2-3 months away from referral (for sure) and then renew.

I could be wrong or being fed wrong info but we were told to renew everything on time. We were refingerprinted in January and are now in the process of updating our homestudy and all the paperwork that goes with it. My SW suggested I get everything done for the free renewal and to still qualify under the old rules. I don't know what is correct anymore Good luck!

My agency told us that the old/new rules were not a big issue on our end, and was more on the agency side.
We did not qualify for the free renewal (missed the cut-off date by a week) so we let Everything expire. Our agency initially wanted us to keep everything current (probably easier for them) but when I questioned what the point of doing so was with possibly a 12 mo. + wait, ok'ed us letting everything expire.

Our fingerprints and paperwork all expired in Aug-Oct 07. We did not renew anything and will wait till I see we are closer to a referal date. we are LID as of Aug 1 2006. I do not want o have to keep doing it as I dont see us going to China for a very long time. So diffrent from our first adoption from China, then I thought 6 months was forever... How times change. I spoke with our agency last week since we too were asked to renew our paperwork. They said that most parents with our LID dates weren't renewing at this time. In their opinion it didn't make sense since the extra months would run out before we would be matched and we would have to file again away. Why spend the money?
