Where are you going to be?
Assuming the wait time will go to 2.5-3 years....
Three years from now.... How long will your child be home? (waiting or already home now) Do you expect any other long term changes in your life? What's one other goal that you really hope to have accomplised by then?

Since we've switched to special needs, we hope to be matched in the next several months and travel by next summer. So by three years from now, I hope to be raising our child and considering a second adoption. The Army will most likely have moved us somewhere, so I have no idea where we'll be geographically - LOL!
If we hadn't switched, I might not have such an upbeat attitude about looking ahead three years. I really feel for those who are facing this long wait. Hopefully three years will bring referrals for all those currently waiting! |

We will be home already. We are currently waiting for LOA for our son, Ricky. He is a waiting chiild.
We are not planning on anymore children. We will have one girl and one boy. I cannot believe I have said that. We have spent most of our married life (over 11 years) trying to have children. It is weird to not to have to obsess about something that I have obsessed about for over 10 years.

i'll probably be at home with my baby , assesing the chance of placing my house for sale and moving Back to Texas to be closer to my family and my mom!
my old friends will be left behind , once I have my baby , our goals in time wil be very diffrent, my new friends will enjoy doing things together with me and my baby, trips to the zoo , playdates , going to chucky cheese?I will probably be working the day shift now. ![]()

Cady will be 6 yrs old and in Kindergarten or 1st grade! Melody will be with us for around a year, and if she is 15 months when we get her she will be 2 and a half!
I'm just hoping to still have the same job in three years because our company is strong Union, and we're planning a strike in 09. The company could just say "forget it" and hire outside of California. YIKES. I REALLY don't want to be looking for a new job at my age! (lazy but true) As for other goals, I want to lose a considerable amount of wait. Age + weight = sore muscles. I'm tired of being overweight and Im tired of being old. But there's only one of them that I can control. I can't wait till Cady has her baby sister. She talks about her all the time, and we are so ready to see it happen.

Three years from now.... How long will your child be home? (waiting or already home now): Charlotte just got home with us yesterday, so 3 years from now, she will have been home with us for 3 years, and she will be 4 years old. Do you expect any other long term changes in your life? No, but since life is unpredictable, you never know. What's one other goal that you really hope to have accomplised by then? Complete her Life Book.

Three Years from now....
Wow, that very thought gave me chills! Three years from now my now youngest daughter should be on her last year of college and more established with goals towards a secure future of passion and dreams coming true. We should by then have another little family member! We are probably 1 to 2 years away from her adoption. She will have been with us for awhile and we will be wondering how we ever lived without her. We as parents will probably be at least semi-retired! We will be taking her everywhere with us. We will be traveling and teaching her about life with as much gusto as possible. Our family will be growing more too with marriages and maybe more grandchildren too. We sadly might also be saying our "goodbyes" to our now very elderly family members. Our lives will very dramatically be changing in the next 3 years. There is no doupt in my mind. One thing for sure is we will be continuing to, LIVE LARGE!
(Welcome back Trace! What a beautiful family you have. It has been very fun following your story. Thank you!) -Karen In MT LID 7-14-06 |
