Lydia has an imaginary friend

Lydia's new friend is Mickey. I don't know much about him as we just met him tonight...but he seems pretty cool. He likes to play with Lydia's toys and Lydia likes to boss him around and tell him what to do!

So in honor of Mickey I ask you all...Did you have an imaginary friend as a kid? And if so who was (s)he?

Mine was Oscar. He wasn't human, he was a small troll. He lived in our fence in our backyard. I would feed him dirt and tell him secrets. He was a good listener and he loved rocks. (Which I would bring him on a regular basis.)

No imaginary friend, but I did have a stuffed dog named Buttons who was my constant companion for years. She was married to my sister's stuffed bear Teddy, and they had a kid, another bear,Teddy Jr.

My son had an imaginary friend...

When he was about 3 1/2. His name was Dirtabee, he was black and white, had white hair and blue eyes, and six children. We heard a LOT about him that summer. We had to leave room for him at the table, in the car, etc. He had many adventures with his many children.

But alas, that fall, my son started Montessori pre-school. Shortly thereafter, Dirtabee went to vacation to Florida (or so my son said), and sadly, never returned.

We missed him for quite a while...LOL.

My Niece has a whole family!

Emma has a whole imaginary family. She just turned 4. Her older brother, William (6), keeps running to their Mom saying
"Mom, Emma is lying!"

Wow that is a tough parenting thing. Trying to let him know the difference between lying and imagination.

Sometimes Emma and I play. So I am the imaginary friend (They Live in MI and I live in MN) That makes me feel really good!

I called my imaginary friend "Little Girl." She had blond hair (like me) in a pony tail. She did everything I did, except that she could fly!

Never had an imaginary friend, but one of my favorite movies from my teen years was Drop Dead Fred- about an imaginary friend. Okay- I'll admit- I still like this movie- but it is really stupid-silly!!!!

Imaginary Friend

I apparently had a major head injury at some point in my childhood, because I have total amnesia when it comes to my imaginary friends. According to my family, I had not just an imaginary friend, but an entire imaginary family. I wish there was an imaginary photo album or imaginary reel. (My imaginary family existed when home movies were still made on those little reels that you hooked up to a projector.) Maybe they would jog my memory. Is there a medical treatment to help you remember your imaginary friends?

Baby China

Annabelle is almost 4. She doesn't have an imaginary friend, but she does have an imaginary sister- "baby China" She talks about her all the time, buys her toys, lays out clothes for her, decorated her half of the room, etc. I feel bad for her- since she thought she'd have a sister when she was 4, now it's 6. One night she woke up crying in the night & said "How would you feel if you're sister was in China?"
I guess she's not "Imaginary" just not here yet.
