Process-One Parent is of Chinese Heritage
My girlfriend and husband are looking into Chinese adoption. She asked me to find out from the groups I belong to if the process for China is any different if one of the spouse's is part Chinese.
"T"'s (her Husband) grandmother is full Chinese. Does this change the cost, process etc..... Thanks! |

They may be able to get an expidited referal. I'm not sure since it's a grandparent. If it were a parent definately.

I remember reading recently that China has become stricter on who gets expedited referrals due to ancestry. From what I remember, even under the original, more lenient rules they would not be included...someone correct me if I am wrong.

I understand at least of one of appliciants is a full chinese for the expedited process. To be a full chinese in CCAA's eyes, both parents need to be chinese. I know from yahoo group that who was born in China but her father is not a chinese was denied for expedited process. Sorry for the unhappy news.
CCAA website says at least one of applicants is a foreign chinese for the speedy process. We did not get the discount for our chinese background although we have marriage and birth documents in Chinese (no translation needed), some application letter in Chinese, we may not depend the travel guide and we may accept the referral document in chinese. I know this because we are 100% Chinese by blood but did not meet the official rules for expediting. Either one of the adoptive parents have to have been born in China, or both of my parents or DH's parents born in China. We are all Chinese, but only my mom was actually born in China, so we didn't qualify. I don't know of any difference in cost if you are Chinese, unless obviously you are living in China.

Also, not all adoption agency's expedite for Chinese ancestry. I know ours does not(large multi-country agency) and never has -I don't know why, but they don't.

I'm the same as your friend's husband. My Grandfather is full Chinese and I did not qualify for the process to be expedited.
