China adoption on hold?

Has anyone had to put their China adoption on-hold? If yes, what stage was your dossier in and what happened to the dossier? How did it affect your referral time?
Thanks.

A member here, kellykamp2004, put her application on hold to pursue an adoption from Guatemala. I'm not sure how that is going to affect her. You may want to PM her.

With the referrals taking so Loooooooooooooong, aren't we all-on-hold any way?! Why do anything?

We haven't done it yet, but have talked to our agency about adding in a delay (we were LID 3/7/06, now expecting a biologic baby 5/22/07, and logistically we might want to wait even longer than "the wait" currently is before bringing our baby home from China). They say that they can suspend our application for up to 6 months. When we want to reactivate it, we need to do a home study update with our social worker, and then the agency contacts China. At some point, the CCAA will write back and say that we are back in line for a referral-- a process that might add one to two more months to the delay.

With a wait like the current one, our agency suggests not formally initiating a delay until our LID is pretty close to being matched. And, of course, they asked that we just stay in close and open communication with them about our family plans as they unfold.

Simbela -
Can you PM me with the name of your agency? I'm wondering if we are using the same one. If yours isn't China only, then don't bother, because mine is.
Thanks so much for the information.
Marlie
