Referral
After thinking that last week we weren't going to get a referral, even last night, we were quite surprised to get an email from our agency this morning. We knew that there was that possiblity of not getting a referral so we tried to not get too hopeful until we got the call. About 3pm we got it. Her nickname is Ni Ni and is about 11 mths old. Abit older than my dh had expected, but I think abit more upset that we won't be with her on her first birthday. She is from the Jiangxi Prov. I was really hoping for a referral with those of you with 10/26 LID's, would have liked to go through this experience with another couple.

What an adorable baby! And 11 months is still quite young, especially if she has typical orphanage delays. Many 11 month olds will still be drinking formula, or formula plus rice cereal, exclusively. Many 11 month olds will still not be crawling or walking. Most 11 month olds will be in diapers for a long time to come. And so on.
I adopted my daughter when she was 18 months old, and there was lots of baby left, even at her age. Sharon

Congratulations! She is a cutie. We love seeing the referral pics because we know that one day at the end of the journey it's going to be us in the same position as you are now.
You must be so excited. Here's hoping it's a short time until you get TA and can bring her home.

Thanks everyone. It really is surreal. The first thing I said was she had no hair!
I'd seen other children without hair, but still kinda odd. My FIL said that she looked like me, but a close friend of the family said that she look like my dh. The photo is when she was 5mths so her appearance could have changed so much.It has been a long wait, her birthday is 5 days after our 10 yr anniversary, and about 9 1/2 yrs since we went off birth control to have a child. So I think I will wake up tomorrow look at her photo and pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming. I just hope *fingers crossed* for the next batches to come very quickly or to be large to get the referral time frame reduced!!!!

Maybe I missed it along the way...What is her name going to be? The hair, or lack of....will come in so quickly once you have her home and on good nurishment! Our little adopted granddaughter was so infantile at 11 months (her age on gotcha day) she could barely sit up or crawl, so there were lots of firsts to follow...first steps, first words, first hugs...its been almost two years...so we are now at "first time out!"
