We're absolutely thrilled....and SHOCKED! We just got the call today that we received our TA!!! We sent our LOI on 11/22 and have received the TA in 57 days from the day we sent that in (went from NSN to SN). Our agency is working on the details, but we will probably be traveling sometime the end of February. We were originally thinking that we weren't going to be traveling until the end of March/beginning of April so it was a wonderful surprise!

Since we were only approved by the agency and not through China just yet, I have not posted pictures of our baby. Now that we have the approval from China as well, I have pictures or her on our blog that we have put together to document the journey--- you are all welcome to take a look!

I recognize that cute little face!!! We are with the same agency. Do you know if any other families from that group of waiting kids have received TA? I was at the waiting families meeting last week and the Mom of one of the little girls was talking about the waiting. I am also shocked. We have a May LID and didn't even bother trying to adopt from this list of SN kids. I assumed that people with LID's before us would be chosen. You have given me some hope that we may have a chance at the next list. I had been told that they always choose families with the earliest LID. Congratulations!!!
Whoops- I just saw that I got the year wrong!!! You were LID 11/05. Maybe I don't actually have a chance yet.

To answer your question, during the call, they said that there were 3 other families that we will probably be traveling with. Usually the NSN groups are bigger, so I'm thinking that 3 other SN families must have received their TAs at the same time because of the small number.

Yes, as far as I know of, they do try and select people with earlier LIDs...however, don't let that discourage you from checking the SN lists for your baby! There are other circumstances that they take into account as well...not just the LID date. Ultimately, they try to find matches in the best interest of the child as well, so you could still have a chance in other aspects other than just time.

I hadn't checked the SN Waiting List for a very long time and one day, a little voice told me to log on... and there she was!!! I really do believe that we were led to her to be her parents. We are truly blessed.

You will hardly notice the rest of your wait for that beautiful, baby girl. Congratulations again, on that amazing daughter of yours!!!!

Thanks again to everyone! It still seems kind of surreal that we're getting closer and closer to getting our baby!

In a special needs adoption, you wait for the TA (Travel Approval) from China after you send in your LOI (Letter of Intent). This was the final step before we travel to China!
