Hello,
I recently made the decision to adopt from China, and got word that my application was accepted !!! Now I am beginning the homestudy/paperchase process. I found an agency (I am in WV) that will help me with dossier services in addition to the homestudy, which is a big help as I must be DTC by 30 April. I am single, and after that date, China is shutting the door to singles wanting to adopt. I am just thrilled ! Anyway, just wanted to share the news, and ask for prayers that all goes well. I would work work work to get that Dossier together. You can probably do a lot if not most before you have your HS done. I handed my completed Dossier, other than my HS and I71h to my Social worker.

Welcome to the club. I second the idea of starting on your dossier documents ASAP. In addition to you homestudy agency, there is a wealth of experience among forum members here. So feel free to ask lots of questions.

It's a lot of paperchasing but YOU CAN DO IT!
Our agnecy doesn't start the homestudy process until we have most of our paperwork submitted (except I600A, fingerprinting) so we are hoping to have the paperchasing done by the end of Jan.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that there are no snags for you and you get it all done in plenty of time!

Congratulations! Be sure to stick to your social worker like glue to get your home visits and any necessary appointments done ASAP. Also ask now how long they expect the I-600A will take to process. My SW said our area is averaging 9-12 weeks right now, which means we're going to be cutting it close. It's different for every region.

I would also recommend getting anything now that you may need to wait for: copy of birth certificate, passport, medicals, references, etc.

Well congratulations and welcome to the Paperchase! I agree with what everyone is saying....make sure to stay ON your SW so that they complete everything on time. One of the things that helped me speed up things also was if at all possible (I know that sometimes it just isn't possible depending on where you live etc) hand carry things in!!! It cut alot of the wait time down from having to wait on the mail.
