Question authentication question

Since it it taking so long for our 171H to come back I was wondering if we can go to Chicago and walk in w/ our dossier papers and walk out the same day with them all authenticated? Does anyone know? If we can do we need to make an appointment? I know I'll take off a day and take the papers to the St. Louis office to be certified and that should be no problem. It wouldn't cost too much to either drive or fly from STL so I'm seriously considering it. I want to be dtc by Xmas but I'm running out of days!!! Please let me know if you have done this and about how long it takes. Thanks! OH, we will be going to Chicago for authentication.

According to the Consulate in Chicago's web site, you should be able to receive same day service. Below is a copy and paste from the authentication section on their web site.

We live just outside of Branson, MO...and went through the Chicago office as well. We just used the regular mail service and they turned around our documents in one week.

Hope all goes well for you!

For mail service, an additional 5 dollars PER PACKAGE for handling will be charged. Make sure you read the Mail Application Instructions.
The regular processing time is 5 working days. For express service, additional fees of $30 for 1 working day (applications presented before 11:30am may be picked up between 2:30pm-3:00pm on the same day) processing, or $20 for 2-3 working days processing will be charged.
Please pay by Money Order, Cashier's Check, Company Check or Cash. Personal checks are not acceptable. Please make the check or money order payable to Chinese Consulate in Chicago .

In August I did walk in one day servie in Chicago for authentication of our I-171H, it is a little more expensive 50$ per document but the time save was worth the extra $$. I droped paperwork off at 9:15 and had it in my hand at 1:30. The Chicago Consulate is only 2 1/2 blocks off of Michigan Avenue, so if you like to shop the 4 hrs passes quickly.
