2 countries at once, including China?
Hello all-
I was wondering if anyone knows if you can complete an adoption from China and then a few months later bring home a baby from another country? I know some agencies (including mine) have a 6 month rule. I am not sure though if the Chinese child comes home first, if this rule applies? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks! Kelly |

Clueless
HI!
I don't have an answer for your question, but I always wondered if, since the wait for China referrals is almost 18 months, if someone got pregnant, or adopted somewhere else, while they were waiting for a referral, if that would be acceptable. I'll be anxious to hear :-) Melissa

Hi Kelly, we adopted from two different countries and brought all three children home within nine months.
We started our Russian adoption in March of 2004, and brought our two children home in October of 2005. We started our China adoption in February 2005, and brought our daughter home in July of 2006. It is possible. China does not have any rules limiting adoption from two different countries. The adoption agencies are the ones that have restrictions, but you just have to find the ones that will allow you to adopt from two different countries at one time. We contacted our homestudy agency first to be sure they would allow it and when they said yes, we found an agency who would allow it.

Kelly:
A women who is my February/March DTC Group - applied for Vietnam and she just brought home her little girl home last month - that was only about a 5-6 month process. She is still with us - waiting on her China referral...it was very exciting as she shared everthing with us and is still looking forward to her little girl in China! We inquired with our agency about changing to Vietnam and she suggested rather than cancelling everything for China she would recommend having the homestudy updated (for Vietnam) and start working on the dossier / forms (different than China) now - and keep going with China - but we could not handle having two children within one-year (I would die!). Hope this helps - some. Good luck to you! Megi
