We have a channel on our cable (CCTV) that we watch all the time. I learn more about China on there than anywhere. Lots of news and science. You get to see some Chinese shows like soap operas that are interesting too.

I want to say Wild Zero. Most of the cast is Japanese but shot in China.
Hero is amazing, blows Crouching Tiger out of the water. I'm generally impressed with Asain cinema. Though their horror films are getting stagnant. |

Peter Hessler - new book out
Peter Hessler has a new book out called Oracle Bones about the changes in Chinese society as reflected by the lives of his former students. I loved his first book (which I read, coincidentally, right before we got our referral for our daughter from Chongqing) so I am looking forward to reading his new book which I hope, and have hinted about, that I will get as a Christmas gift.

I hinted too
I gently led DH to buy Oracle Bones for my birthday, but since I was in the middle of another book, I let him read it first. We both loved River Town. He's still reading it, and my birthday was in May! (Busy man, only gets to read a few pages a day). It's kind of nice to have something to look forward to, though. Since this wait will be so LLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG.
