Referral Question

Everyone:

According to the China website they have given out referrals to 8/9/05 but I have a friend who have just heard from their agency and she was referred a 7 month old beautiful girl and her log-in date is 9/8/05 which is a month ahead of what China is posting. Does anyone know if certain agencies are getting special treatment than others. I was just wondering.

Our log-in date in 1/23/06.

Thanks.

That's interesting. Do you know if your friend requested an expedited referral due to Chinese heritage (hers or her husband's)? I can't think of any other reason she would receive a referral early. As far as I know there are no special treatments to agencies.

And they're not from England where they use 9/8/05 instead of 8/9/05? All I can say is if this is true, it's the first I've heard of CCAA making such a mistake. I hope RQ doesn't catch wind of this!

No agencies get special treatment. Groups of dossiers are processed in the order in which they are logged in, regardless of which agencies sent those groups of dossiers.

However, a person may be taken outside the queue for a couple of reasons. First off, he/she may have chosen a child with special needs through the official Waiting Child program. The paperwork of people requesting Waiting Children is handled outside the NSN program.

Second, while the person may not have worked through the Waiting Child program, he/she may have requested that China match him/her with a child with a particular, significant special need -- for example, with a deaf child. China will often process such requests outside the regular queue, since the likelihood that a child with that particular special need will be in the "next up" group of child dossiers is low.

Third, the parent may have been eligible for expedited referral, usually because he/she either born in China or had at least one parent who was born in China.

Finally, it is possible that there was a mistake, for example, when the agency communicated the Log-In Date (LID) to the parent or when China communicated the LID to the agency. The fact that the two dates look so similar in this case -- 8/9 and 9/8 -- suggests that there was a transposition of the date on some document.

My guess is the person in questions'r LID date of 9/8/06 is referring to the 9th month (Sept), 8th day of 2005. We are in Quebec, Canada, and some people use day/month/year (ex. 8/9/05) instead of month/day/year (ex. 9/8/05).

The CCAA's website actually spells out the month August, stating that referrals, so the confusion must be on the format used for the date.

Sorry, reverse the examples in my previous post. I had it backwards.

If your friend just received a referral with a LID of 9/8/05, it must be the European date format, day/month/year. In this same format 8/9/05 would mean the 8th day of Sept. 2005, which doesn't make sense if she received a referral.

I hope this makes sense. I'm a little tired tonite.

After drilling my friend it seems the numbers were transposed from the agency.

This whole process is very draining but it does help knowing friends going through the same process to pull you through and make it to our next chapter.

Thanks again.

I think one of the best things about the China process is that no agencies get an advantage so it is fair to everyone.
