Petition for Non Stop Flights to China

I don't know if anyone receives emails from American Airlines, but I thought this was worth sharing.

Here is the email I received from them.

American Airlines recently applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation for the authority to fly from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Beijing, China, beginning March 2007. Three other airlines have also submitted an application for an additional China flight, but only one U.S. airline will be awarded the right to add a daily flight to and from China.

As one of our valued AAdvantageŽ members, you can help us open a new gateway to China. The Department of Transportation bases its decision on many factors, and one of the most important is the amount of community support. By signing your name to an
online petition you can show your support.

How will you benefit if American flies to China? DFW is American's largest hub where it operates almost 800 total daily flights with service to 129 domestic destinations. Establishing a flight to China from DFW will provide you with an expanded network of exciting destinations and more ways to both earn and redeem AAdvantage miles. In addition, once in China, you can connect to 24 destinations in the country's interior through our codeshare partner China Eastern Airlines.

Please sign this petition by Friday, September 22 and help us bring this valuable service to DFW. Visit
www.FlytoChinaonAA.com. You'll also find more information about American Airlines and our proposed flight to Beijing.

Sincerely,

http://www.aa.com/content/images/outages/danGarton.gif

My Mother in Law has been a flight attendent with American for 35 years. She sent me the same link a few weeks ago. I think there are a few airlines doing the same thing, trying to get support to win the route. No matter which carrier wins... it is a plus for all of us! Another flight option to our children!

New Route

Basically, the FAA is going to award one new route. Obviously, all the major airlines want it. Since I am in Atlanta and we don't have a direct flight, I am hoping that Delta gets it for Atlanta. That said another direct flight from any where in the US helps.

I'm in Atlanta, too. I know that another from anywhere will be a plus, but I would love to see a direct flight to China from here.

I could be wrong, but I thought it was down to 4 United, Northwest, American and COntinental. American would be out of Dallas which would be great for me. I fly american through Dallas all the time. I believe Continental was going to be from Newark(not 100% sure). SO I am hoping for the Dallas route. Otherwise, If I ever get to the travel stage(still in paperchase) I will most likely go through chicago which is not a fun airport.

It has been narrowed down to 4 carriers:

Northwest our of Detroit
American out of DFW
Continental out of Newark
United out of Dulles

I live in central VA, so I'm personally pulling for the United flight, but I agree another new direct flight from anywhere is a move in the right direction (except maybe Newark since flights are always delayed out of there). I sent an email to the dept of transportation to "support" a flight. They gave me the following info to call or write my support.

To contact Acting Secretary Cino, please write, phone or FAX:

Regular mail:

The Honorable Maria Cino
Department of Transportation
400 Seventh Street, SW
Washington, DC 20590

Telephone: 202-366-1111

FAX: 202-366-7202

I live in the DFW area and this would be such a big booster to the hit that American has taken in the last five years. I so would love to see a direct flight to China out of DFW. Not just because we hope to adopt twice from China but the export and import business would be great for our area.

I am pretty sure that Continental already has a direct flight from Newark to Hong Kong. My agency usually has you fly into HK- so this is the flight we will be booking. I heard they do a great job. I hope they do!

Talking Airplane Idol

Is like Airplane Idol?

In case anyone would rather fly from Detroit, here's the petition for Northwest: https://www.nwa.com/cgi-bin/register/asiatravel.cgi

I'm not encouraging you to vote for one or the other, but at least it's a chance to make your wishes known.

I'm in Seattle, which has non stops to many SE Asia hubs. My husband flies Northwest nonstop to Japan several times a year. I noticed that there are no West Coast options... NO FAIR!
