Waiting to be 30?
Hi,
I am going to be 29 in November and I hope to start my paperwork in May 2007. I understand that paperwork is only good for a certain amount of time. My question is at what point do you think that my placement agency will let me turn in an application. I hope to use CCAI. I would think that they would let me in May 2007. My INS approval will probally take 3 months to get once I submit my homestudy because I will be useing the Atlanta office. I know that their has been a lot of talk about changes in the China progrem but I am praying everyday that nothing to drastic changes between now and the time I can submit a dossier. I am married, healthy, own a home, have a high income, and plan to be a stay at home mom. I am trying to talk my husband into requesting twins but he says no. I think I would have a good chance of receiving twins because I was a twin and have a family history of tiwns in my family. I look forward to hearing from everyone. Mebe Waiting to be 30 ![]() |

We were in the same situation. We deicded to adopt back in Aug 2004, and my DH was still 28 then. He turned 30 on 10/5/05, and we sent in our app to our agency on 2/14/05, so about 7 and 3/4 months ahead of his birthdate. As you can see from my signature, the paper chase/home study/waiting for I-171H (that was the longest wait - 2 months, which set us back about a month from where we had hoped to be) took almost 9 months. So yes, I think May would be fine, but you may even want to send it in around March if they let you. Good luck!!

Hi!
Dh and I are waiting for me to turn 30 on May 21st, so we are just now getting our homestudy wrapped up and sending in our 1-600a. I can't wait! |

Be careful about submitting your I 600a too early. Since they are only good for 18 months, the best timing is to get your approval just before you are DTC. That will minimize the likelihood of having to reapply. (You may still need to depending on the wait times).

You can probably begin some parts of your paperchase about six months before your 30th birthday, with the goal of having your agency submit your completed dossier to China as soon as you turn 30.
Don't start much before then, or you will be faced with expiring paperwork. Talk to your agency, which should be able to give you a timeline to follow. Sharon
