How long does it typically take to receive your homestudy after the social worker visits the home? I've heard different things- two weeks, four weeks, and a month. I hope we don't have to wait too long...it will really hold things up.

I think it probably depends on how busy your social worker is and how she goes about preparing your homestudy. We had four meetings with our social worker, but we had our autobiographies prepared before the first meeting. We emailed the autobiagraphes to her so she was able to use these as a base for the homestudy doc and just cut and paste and arrange things as appropriate. I assume if she were to have written from scratch it would have taken alot longer. Our first meeting was on 8/30/2005 and our last one on 9/29/2006. We had our draft homestudy in hand on 10/12 and the final approved home study was back to us on 10/23. Our social worker was very good, but I have heard many horror stories of things taking much longer. Good luck I hope it goes just as fast for you.

Our homestudy agency offered an expedited service for an additional fee. We chose that. Our first meeting was 8/4/06, our last was 8/10 and we received our first draft in the mail on 8/17.

It took just under 2 weeks for ours, but we live in a small comunity. Not much going on here. Longest wait I've heard of was 6 weeks and that was a friend of mine in Boston.

Our last homestudy was May 6th. We saw a draft on May 27th. By the time it went to the USCIS it was June 7th.
I thought they didn't move fast enough. It did sit on the child placement supervisors desk.
