I-171H Letter Campaign
For those of us looking at a longer referral wait and travel to China, the thought of an added possible $2,000 to current costs due to having to update our homestudy and the I-171H before we go does not make life any easier. Families who are in the process of adopting from China and joining together to do a letter writing campaign to Emilio R. Gonzalez, Director of the US Citizenship & Immigration Service to ask for a grandfather to those I-171H's already active in China. Won't you consider doing the same and sending this letter to your local representatives, congressmen, and senator's to express your concern? I have attached the form letter as well. Please add your own personal touches and story to it!!
GRK Dear (Senator/Congressman/Governor/Vice President)_________. My family is currently in the process of an adoption from China. Our baby is waiting for us. One critical government form, the I-171H, has a life span of 18 months. A recent backlog of adoptions from China has created a situation where U.S Immigration form I-171H may expire, despite an adoption being approved by the Chinese Government. The cost of updating this U.S. Immigration form I-171H could well exceed $2,000, and delay the dream we have of joining with our baby. Our family is asking for help. Please lend your support and influence by encouraging Emilio T. González, Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, to immediately extend the life span of U.S. Immigration form I-171H from 18 to 24 months and grandfather those I-171H’s already active. There are babies in many corners of the world waiting for their American parents to bring them home. Other nations are helping to fulfill our dream. Please do not allow our government to prevent our family from living that dream. You can help. So many parents in our state will be grateful. Thank you —————————– Emilio T.
