1st set of fingerprints rejected question
My father-in-laws first set of fingerprints were rejected (in laws live in our inlaw suite). He is set to go back on the 22nd. This is all we are waiting for.....
I have learned that if the 2nd set is rejected he has to go for a sworn oath statement plus he has to get a background check done by local police. As a precautionary measure we went ahead and did the background check. I want the sworn statement to happen on the 22nd rather than wait again for another notice of rejection. It took a month to get this appointment. I tried calling customer no service as USCIS and they put me in touch with a fax number at the Atlanta USCIS. Of course, no one answered my fax. Can I go in and ask for the sworn statement at the same time as the second fingerprints, just in case? Has anyone done this? Our agency said we could try. The officer at the Atlanta USCIS is new so our agency has not established any relationship with them. They had a great relationship with the previous officer. Thanks Jen

Good luck trying to move things along. We tried in Charlotte NC but the sworn oath is given at a different place from the fingerprint appointment. We were unable to get in touch with the person who handles fingerprints/adoptions because she is available only 3 hours a week for the adoptions; the rest of the week she works on immigration and the only thing you could do is leave a message. I even sent a copy of my approved fingerprints from the FBI that had been taken a month earlier when we were planning to adopt through another country and it was denied.
I would find out if the statement and fingerprints can be done at the same place. I wish I had contacted a congressman because our fingerprint process took 3 months!! You're smart to try to take care of this ahead of time instead of just waiting. |

Thanks for replying
Well according to our agency it is done at the same location -- we use the Atlanta USCIS. I just sent the agency another message reconfirming this.
I soooo want to be done with this paperchasing process and move on to the long wait Thanks for replying back! Jen

I have to go back to ATL tomorrow to be printed again. The sad thing is, this is from our re-fingerprinting appointment. They had a perfectly good set, but they "expired." Grumble, grumble... (It takes 3+ hours for us to get to Atlanta.)
Not an answer to your question, but definite sympathy. |

Precherswife,
You are almost there.... I have seen the rumors on the June 28th cut off. I hope that is true! We live in metro Atlanta but on the wrong side where the USCIS is. It takes us about an hour to get there. hugs Jen
