Hi. My husband and I have finally decided on China and we are officially paperchasing! Our homestudy is almost complete and we're starting to work on the adoption petition. Our agency gave us a basic set of things to include, but I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to share examples.

our agency gave us a sample letter that we adapted to our situation. honestly it took me about 5 minutes to write....i wouldn't stress over it too much.

I will ditto what happynifer said. Our agency gave us an example, and a paper that said EXACTLY what should go into the petition, and it really only took me a short time to complete it with our specifics in mind.

For example, you need to specify that you will love and respect your child as if she/he were born to you, that they will receive a good education, and you will never abandon her. You also use this letter to state the exact "specifics" for the child you are dreaming of. For example "We would like to request a healthy baby girl between the ages of 8 and 14 months old." Or "We want a child of either sex as young as possible. We would be willing to accept a child with minor health concerns, such as..." Etc.

I know the letter has to include your full name (of both parents) as well as your address, and birth country/country of residence.

Thanks everybody for your help! We hope to get our petition letter done this weekend. Our homestudy is almost done (2 more visits), then the wait for I-171h. Anyone know what the wait time are these days through the Kansas City office?
