100 Wishes Quilt
The 100 good wishes quilt is a quilt made of 100 fabric squares and well wishes from 100 families/friends. It is derived from a chinese tradition of preparing a blanket for a new born child made up of fabric, scraps of clothing, material to ensure the child has a warm blanket to be wrapped in. The squares & wishes can be collected from family and friends, in addition to various Internet "100 Good Wishes Quilt" swaps with other adoptive familes. Yahoo has a OHGWQ group specifically for this. What a beautiful quilt. Hopefully I can start working on mine in a month or two. I have to get my letters sent out to my friends and family. I received so many beautiful wishes and fabric from the forum swap. I can't thank everyone enough. I hope to be done with my quilt by the end of the year. Keep the pictures comming.

The technique is paper/fabric piecing. You actually use a photo copied pattern and sew the pieces on according to the design on the paper. It is REALLY EASY once you get the hang of it. I was given the heart pattern and from that, figured out and designed the ladybug pattern. They are a lot of fun to do and can be SO colorful. I am planning to accent with black in between each of the blocks. I am still doing some blocks since people keep getting me fabric - which I am loving!! It has been a lot of fun to design and do!! I am a guidance counselor, so I am hoping to get more of it done this summer. I haven't decided how I am going to quilt it yet. I am thinking that I am going to do "stitch in the ditch" with clear thread. But I have also thought about doing a free style all over in red - because of the Legend of the Red Thread and the ladybugs. Any thoughts???
