OT: where to go in China

I've taken my daughter back to China on a tour 2 yrs ago (Beijing, Xian and Chengdu) and am planning another trip for next year. I don't want to do a tour again but on my own with friends. I have only 2 weeks in the spring time. Was thinking Shanghai, Guilin (Li River boat tour), 2 days in her hometown and ...

Any suggestions? Please you loved, over-hyped...
