waiting child question

Does anyone know how long it takes to get approved and travel for a waiting child when your dossier is already logged in?

We are also doing the WC program -- but I do NOT have a LID yet! I was told 3 - 4 months from LID, but my agency is only HOPING that the WC program is not affected by the slowdown -- I have read elsewhere that one person handles all the WC's ... but the timeframe is pretty consistent!

My last sn adoption took about 110 days... I am hoping the one I am working on now does not take as long but I guess you never know.

Are you guys all waiting for CCAA to match you or have you found your child on a WC list?

I'm not in the Waiting Child program, but our agency reports, for them, a 7-9 month wait from application approval to travel... basically, a 3-4 month wait for travel approval once the dossier is in China, and travel occurring approximately 2-4 weeks after issuance of the travel notice. I hope this helps?

45-60 days...my floor just hit the ground...are you serious?? Is this if CCAA matches you or if you find a child of your agencies waiting list?

I'm still waiting for confirmation from our China director...I can't stand it...I want to know if it really could be 3-4 months....

My agency is still sticking with 6-8months from LID to receive a referral from CCAA. I wonder why everyone else is being told 3-4months....hmmmmmm....

Here we go .....I started when I identifed my son in August. I had nothing done no paperwork ect. I arrived home with him March 28. I think I have a mini time line on the bottom of the page. Yes one person does the processing for the SN children. MY son 2yrs 7 months is a dream. The adjustment has been great like he was always supose to be here. He has a Cleft palate unrepaired and a lip repaired. HE has a few surgery's ahead and some speach thearpy ..but we would not trade him for the world. I know the yahoo heart list keeps a record from DTC to TA. You might want to join just for that info.

The waiting times from Preapproval (if you are already DTC) or from LID (if you are DTC after Preapproval) to Travel Approval are shortening. The average wait from whichever was latest (LID or PA) seems to be around 75 days.

The rumor mill has it that the CCAA is focusing on shortening the wait times for families adopting waiting children.

Someone from our agency just received travel approval 35 days after LID and they were DTC after Preapproval for a waiting child.

Our new son has a repaired cleft lip, repaired cleft palate, and a repaired hernia. I already have two kids with speech issues (they were not waiting children), so our new son’s “special needs” are not really so special to us. He may need some additional gum surgery when he is 8 or 9 and he will probably need braces. Our oldest needed orthodontia at 8 for a severe underbite and will need more later to straighten his top teeth, and our two daughters have been seeing a pediatric dentist for dental issues for years, so nothing new there (one is congenitally missing a tooth – very rare, and the other has ground her teeth so badly she has needed some baby teeth pulled and spacers put in).

Adopting a waiting child may not be for everyone, but it could be a possibility for many families. We really talked about what we felt we could handle age-wise and medically given the number of children already in our home and their ages. We agreed with what we could handle and what we couldn’t. It’s hard to be honest with yourselves, but better to talk about it now, rather than when the child comes home.

I just returned from CHina with our newly adopted 4 yo waiting daughter in jan. We were NOT paper ready at all and had to receive a large family waiver. this is our timeline once we identified our daughter with the agency.
LOI (letter of intent) 6/3/05
PA 9/1
DTC 9/28
LID 10/26 (we got stuck in the tradefair shut down)
TA 1/11/06
Left for CHina 1/16
Adoption day 1/18
Consuate appt. 1/25 (but we got in before Chinese New Year shut down)
Home 1/27
There is a wonderful yahoo group called waiting children China, if you run a search it should come up. They have a person who does a wonderful job tracking everyones dates, and it kind of gives you an idea of when things might happen. I have a friend who returned from China with their new daughter in 8/05, they sent in their LOI for a little boy in Mar 06 and received their PA in 26 days. And this is with not having met the one yr between adoptions rule. The one predictable thing about the waiting childrens program is it is NOT predictable.
Hope this helps, Shelley
