Received Homestudy - Questions
We received our homestudy report yesterday from our SW. She gave us 4 copies - 1 for CIS, 1 for our dossier, 1 for our agency and 1 for us. All 4 have been notarized.
Question(s) - 1. Should I also make a copy of this homestudy for us? We have a notarized original, but do we also need a copy? 2. Do we need to make another copy after it is certified? And then another copy after it is authenticated by Chinese Consulate? So confusing. Thanks!

I'm just about to this point and with the same agency you are. You need one that is notarized, certified, authenticated for your dossier. The one that goes to USCIS I think just needs to be notarized, not certified nor authenticated. Your notarized copy, just keep for your safe keeping. Before you send your authenticated copy to your agency with your dossier I would make a copy of it with all the notarized, certified, authenticated sheets etc. for your own records. If I'm not mistaken you also need to send a complete extra copy of all your dossier papers including all pages (certifications) with your dossier. Happy copying. Anyone, please correct me if I'm not correct.

actually send the homestudy to your agency asap for them to review it (if you hadn't done that when it was in some draft format)...
For USCIS send it off now too. If your agency wants changes for the dossier version those can then be made before it's state authenticated etc. The version for the USCIS can go 'as is' once notarized; hopefully the social worker knew what to include for the USCIS requirements. For photocopying: It's easiest to photocopy at each stage of the game: copy the document, then once notarized copy that sheet and use paper clip to attach it it, then once state authenticated copy that sheet etc... It's easier than having all the documents done completely and trying to copy them with all the ribbons, gromlets, staples etc that are put on it.... Once all the sheets are together staple that completed document together. YOu'll also need a complete xeroxed set for your agency. Joanne |

Thanks Kim and Joanne.
Joanne - So I should make all those copies, but twice? One for us and one for our agency? Also, the HS report was already reviewed and approved by our agency.

Yes.
YOu want to keep a complete photocopy of your entire dossier for your records and the agency will want a complete photocopied set along with the originals. And the whole xeroxing 'as you go' makes it easier ![]() Joanne |

Thanks Joanne. That makes a lot of sense. I appreciate it.
