Hi all,
Sorry, I know there was just a thread about this, but I can't find it. We will not be DTC for a few months--basically we are waiting on the home-study, which then still has to go to immigration, so I guess I'm looking at at least 3 more months before we are DTC. I got word this morning that we may have to move out of state. This is not etched in stone, but the choice will probably present itself within the next month and I want to be prepared. I will of course ask my agencies what I should do when/if it becomes reality, but I am wondering if anyone here has moved out of state after LID? Would we have to have our home-study redone? Is there a lot of extra paperwork? Do I just find a home-study agency in the new state to do my post-placements? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Christina |

As it was explained to me, up until the time of departure, any relocation or changes in employment status would require an update if not a complete do-over. This may vary by state. The best person to ask about this is the social worker who performed the evaluation for you.

Christina,
I had tried to respond earlier and Mira wiped out my response. Maybe she didn't like what I was typing...? YOu will need a homestudy update. Depending on the state you're moving to there can be additional requirements to meet that states regulations; IE: the new state may require a fire inspection or things like that. The new agency will come out and see your new home and write the report. I'm sure there's also some way one needs to inform the BCIS of the move so that future documents are sent to your new address. Sharon is quite knowledgable about this 'stuff'. I'm sure she has a more detailed response ![]() Joanne |

Thanks so much for the responses!
Fortunately my husband came home from work and told me that he'd rather have some other people retire from that specific office before he'd consider the position! I was excited to move, as the town we'd be moving to is one of our favorite places and is still a destination *someday*... just not right now with my family situation, small children in a school we love, etc. Thanks again, Christina |
