I am so frustrated right now!!!!!

I am still trying to lose the weight to start this process up again, but it is coming off of me slower than ever.

I am so nervous that when I do lose the weight, they will move the bar again.

I am just at odds with myself today!!!!!! Will it ever happen for us? What if it does not???? UGH.

Thanks for listening to me

Niccum, which process are you talking about? It's been a while.

I am so sorry to hear the frustration in your post. I do know how difficult it is to lose weight. I have spent a large portion of my life fighting my weight. This adoption has finally given me the motavation to get up off my backside and do something about it.

The weight is coming off but of course it is coming off much slower than it went on . My top weight was 267 back in the summer. For my first month weigh in at Curves I was down to 227. I am still very much overweight but seeing the difference in numbers wrote down for me was amazing. I had also lost 9 inches from all over my body. My body fat went from 49 to 44. I was more thrilled with those numbers than the ones on the scale.

I have had setbacks though like everyone else. I have Mitral Valve Prolapse and the cold weather sometimes does a number on how I feel. Well our temp around home went from the 60's one week down to the teens the next. So I had not exercised in over 2 weeks. I weigh myself everday scared to death that I may have even gained back a pound. Yesterday I went back to Curves again and boy could I ever tell I hadn't been exercising.

I wish I had some good advice for you Jill but of course I don't. What is your current method for trying to lose the weight, if you don't mind telling me? I have done so much dieting in my life but I do feel like I have finally found something that may just work this time. So I know there is something out there that can help you too!!! You will be in my thoughts and I am here anytime you need to talk or vent

Take Care,
Stephanie

Thanks Stephanie!

I am currently doing WW. It's coming off a .4 here and .8 there. I am far too heavy to be losing so slowly.

I exercise 5 or so hours a week. I just don't get it. I told my husband I wanted to go back to smoking. He said "NO WAY." He is one of "those" ex-smokers!

I haven't been on this board in some time because I just find it difficult right now for me. I just had to turn to someone who might understand though. Hope no one minds!

I was under the impression China didn't have weight restrictions for parents. Was I wrong?

I think some agencies do now have weight restrictions.

Before going to China, I walked a marathon and really got in shape. It was through the Leukemia Socieity's Team in Training. A marathon might sound overwhelming but they made it an obtainable goal.

Hi Niccum,
I have been wondering how you are doing. We sure miss you around here.
You can do this. A friend of mine lost over 100 lbs on WW. Also remember that by exercizing that muscle weighs more that fat, so it may be better to check your inches rather that the scale. I know that was what she was doing at first.
We are all here for you anytime you need to vent.

Julie, China does not have weight restrictions but Niccum's agency decided to impose one on her after they had already accepted her application. So it is a very messed up situation to say the least.

Jill, anytime that you need to vent please come here. There are many of us here who miss not hearing from you. Also as we found out a few months back there are good number of us who understand what it is like to be overweight.

I agree with the fact that you also need to look at inches instead of pounds. I had no idea what a difference inches lost could look or feel like. That is why I said earlier I am so much happier with the inches I have lost instead of the pounds. Yesterday I bought some new exercise pants and I bought a size 12-14. For me that is something, the last time I wore that size was before I had children. Still at 227 I should be too big to fit into that size, which leads me to believe it is the inches and not the pounds that matter the most. I know that your agency is interested in the pounds though. I just thought maybe if you could see that you are loosing more than you think it might give you the extra drive to keep on shedding the pounds also.
I do really recommend Curves. It is so easy to do! But if it becomes too easy then you can push yourself harder or go a couple extra times around the circle. At the one I attend there is a lady who over the course of a couple of years lost over 150 pounds. She said that all she done was went there 3 times a week and watched what she ate (no diet). Her body fat went form in the high 50's down to the 20's. For me meeting people like that or just reading about them from their info posted on the wall is very motivating. I was thrilled when I got my info put on the wall earlier this month. It really does make you feel proud of yourself and makes you to keep on doing good.

Fellow WW here

Niccum, I am doing ww and for the past 3 weeks, I have battled the same .2 lb. This is really frustrating me because not only have I been faithful to the program, I've been training for a marathon with Team in Training. In those three weeks I have run a total of 53 miles. Now, wouldn't you think that I would have lost weight? Well week one I was down .2 lb. The next week I was up .2 lb, and last week I was down .2 lb. I thought I was going to throttle the poor lady weighing me. They said I had reached a plateau and to be patient, I would start seeing 1-2 lb losses again soon, and gave me a plateau information sheet. What's even worse is that I am only .6 lb away from my first 10% goal. UGHHHHHHH.

But, I can tell my clothes are fitting better, so my guess is that I am building muscle. I am hoping that this plateau won't last much longer. One thing I am trying is to eat more. The lady at ww was concerned that with all my exercise pts that maybe I wasn't eating enough, so I've added a couple of glasses a milk a day, and haven't been quite as anal about making sure I "only" get 24 pts, I've started dipping into my extra 35, although I probably only use about half of them, and that's on the days we go out to eat....

Good luck girl! One question though, have you thought about trying with another agency? The reason I ask is that at the time of our application, dh was 322 lbs and I was about 200. Now we are at about 295 and 179. But my point is at our heaviest, nothing at all was even mentioned about our weight... I am sending our comepleted dossier paperwork in tomorrow to our agency, and still nothing has been said....

Suzanne

Niccum I was thinking, since the weight is coming off so slowly, have you been to see a doctor? I have heard of a thyroid problem causing such problems for people. I am sure there are other conditions that could also affect weight loss and gain. Some medications also cause weight problems. Also I have heard that poly-cystic (sp?) disease can keep a woman from loosing weight.
If you have already spoken with your doctor then I am sorry for bringing this up. You have just been on my mind today and I feel so bad for you that this is still a major issue keeping you from getting to adopt.
Hang in there!

Stephanie

I know that I can't seem to stop eating. I am ready to slap duct tape over my mouth. I am hoping to lose a little weight during this process, but at the rate I am going, I will probably be bigger than all of China! I think it must be the stress. I have been trying to go out and walk at the park by us, but with the recent snow and hectic weeks at work, I can't seem to find time. I need to stop my excuses and get of this ever expanding rear end of mine and get moving. I would think the idea of packing an infant all over would be motivation enough. What's a girl to do??

Yeah niccum, I'm so happy to hear from you again. I'm sorry you don't feel like you are being as successfull as you'd like.

Well I've gained 7 pounds since we started talking about losing weight- Aauugghhhhh!

So here is my new strategy: I have decided that 1 year from now I am going to run a 5K. Keep in mind I am not a runner and would probably have to stop for breath just running down my driveway- but I think this is a reasonable goal in 1 years time. So I am setting up a scope and sequence of monthly goals to get me there and I think I am going to log my training with a pedometer and see how long it takes me with my training to run/walk the equivilent of going to China and back!

For me I really needed to set an exercise goal to make myself do it. Now since I decided to do this I have pinched a nerve in my neck snowboarding so I have been out of work and off my feet for a week (double aauugghh!), but I go back to the Dr. tomorrow and hope to start my training next week with walking 1-2 miles a day. Feel free to join me on my "slow walk to China!"

I will absolutely take the slow walk to China with you!!!!! LOL. Walking with a friend is always more fun. Too bad we all didn't live a little closer! Must be the only chubby chick in Mass!

I have seen a doctor. Don't feel bad for asking that at all. My thyroid is perfect. I check out perfect in every way with the exception of my weight. I just can't lose it and I think it's due to yo-you dieting, quitting smoking (2 years ago) and perhaps a few M&M's that fly into my mouth when I am not looking Kidding!

You are all so sweet. I do miss this board. Everytime I think I can return though, I cry. For anyone that has ever had that infertility angst, this is the same thing. I am thrilled for others, but it's like hearing someone is pregnant over and over again. When I get back on track, my brain will be in a better spot.
