Question Does this sound so out of the ordinary?!

So I am ready to file our I-600A and want to get it done ASAP as I am sure all of you can understand.

In Florida, you can file the I-600A before the home study is complete. Well I am in Orlando and the Orlando USCIS office did not have any appointments available on their calendar.

However, the Tampa office had an appointment for this Thursday, 1/19 open and their system let me book it! Can I apply in Tampa even though I live in Orlando? Does anyone have a clue?

I have an email in to our agency and will call USCIS tomorrow to confirm, they are closed because of the holiday today, but I am curious to know if I can actually do this?!

Thanks everyone!

Hi El;

I have one question...why do you need an appointment? As far as I know, you can submit the i600a via mail. You will then get a fingerprint appointment after they receive your homestudy. They will tell you when and where to go for that, but you don't need to make an appointment for the i600a itself.

We did everything via mail.

When the USCIS will schedule your fingerprinting appointment depends on the office you will be using. Some offices (Atlanta, for example) will schedule fingerprinting appointments prior to receiving the completed homestudy.

Hi,
I know that the Tampa office now likes everything filed together, application and homestudy. I don't know if you can use a field office not assigned to your area. I would wait for the homestudy and I think you will find that your wait will be shorter. I think the Orlando office is running about 2 weeks, Tampa about 7-8 weeks.
Hope this helps,
Tara
