100 Good Wishes Quilt
In Northern China there is a tradition to make a Bai Jai Bei or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. Friends and family will contribute a piece of cloth with a wish for the baby. Part of the cloth goes into the quilt and part of the cloth goes into a memory book with a wish for the child. The child is then welcomed with the quilt and wrapped in the energy, luck and good wishes of the friends and families.
Now many families who are adopting from China are working on their own 100 Good Wishes quilts collectig fabrics and wishes from friends and families to make into a quilt to welcome their new baby. If you do a search on 100 Good Wishes Quilt you will find more information and lots of examples. |
