sad
I am sad now. I just went on the USCIS web site for Detroit Michigan and they are only working on Sept 8th requests for the I600 applications/finger printing. This could put us back another two months. I dont want to be set back that far. That just means later and later we will be going to China. This just sickens me. I was wanting to be there in October/November now were talking December of 2006. How sad is that. That is too long. My heart aches.

Laurie,
I tend to not believe the USCIS web site. According to them, we should already have our I-171H, which we don't. Maybe someone who has used the Detroit office can tell you what their experience has been. Don't lose hope! |

That website said it would take six months for our 171 and I was so bummed out! Then we got it less than four weeks after fingerprinting!

Well at least that gives me something to be hopeful about. Seeing how its January already, i am starting to wonder, will it be possible to DTC by Feb?

Take heart, I had a similar experience as well. All through the process people will tend to give you the "worst case" scenario. I actually prefer it that way. Less disappointment and a lot more happy dancing!

I don't know if that is accurate. I doubt it. I looked at our own regional office's dates and found that they are supposedly currently working on the file dated March 11, 2005, which is funny because that was mine and we got our I-171H almost 8 months ago! I know of a couple of families who have gotten their I-171Hs since then. So at least for our office the chart is inaccurate.
Good luck. Waiting for our I-171H was really stressful even though it ended up taking only 7 weeks. |

I have to echo what others have said. Our office website was woefully delayed in posting updates and more than willing to post worst case scenarios. We found that our timeline in no way matched what was posted online by our branch, so I would try to not let it spoil your new year! (easier said than done, I know)

I understand how you feel. We are waiting for our 171H too. We were hoping to travel in fall of 2006 and now we are just hoping for Dec. 2006. Our homestudy was sent Nov. 19 and fingerprints done Dec. 17th. Our USCIS website dates seem to be incorrect, so I wouldn't worry too much about the dates stated on yours. We were told to expect a 4 week wait for both fingerprinting date and 171H. We waited 4 weeks for our fingerprint date and probably will wait the full 4 weeks for 171H. It is frustrating. Hang in there!

Hi! Just want to chime in here as well! The Chicago CIS website was also wrong when we were waiting as well. Keep your hopes up that you will get it sooner!

I know it seems so silly to let a piece of paper have so much control over your emotions. I know its one big step but at the same time the wait is so much longer to bring our little girl home. I am just feeling the "i have no control" over the situation and it is very frustrating. I try to keep busy and keep my thoughts elsewhere to help time fly by.

Laurie - I sure understand the "no-control" thing. We are just waiting for our TA, and every day is agony!!! I am a big-time control person, and I can't handle the sit-and-wait parts of the adoption process!
I got my I-171H much sooner than I thought, so hang in there!!! ![]()
