Fun: Christmas
Hi there my forum friends...I posted this elsewhere but thought my friends over here would like to participate.
 What kind of Christmas tree will you put up this year? We put up a fake tree. Don't like the real ones due to the needles falling off. Favorite classic holiday movie? It's a Wonderful Life Favorite holiday classic on TV? A Christmas Story Favorite holiday drink? Egg Nog Favorite Christmas cookie? Gingerbread cookies Favorite Christmas candies? Homeade chocolates What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? We do breakfast Favorite holiday story to read to the kids? 'Twas the Night Before Christmas Your favorite Christmas story? The Gospel of Luke Favorite Christmas carol or holiday song? Silent Night, Holy Night Most memorable holiday tradition from your childhood? We didn't really have any growing up.

What kind of Christmas tree will you put up this year?
We put up a small fake tree. After Christmas we will buy a bigger fake tree so our baby will have a big tree next year! Favorite classic holiday movie? A Christmas Story Favorite holiday classic on TV? The Year Without a Santa Clause Favorite holiday drink? Egg Nog Favorite Christmas cookie? Sugar cookies with frosting Favorite Christmas candies? Anything chocolate! What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? We are having hors'doeuvres. Favorite holiday story to read to the kids? Don't know yet - no kids yet! Your favorite Christmas story? T'was the Night Before Christmas Favorite Christmas carol or holiday song? Angels We Have Heard on High and Oh Holy Night! Most memorable holiday tradition from your childhood? All of my siblings and I would sleep in the same room and stay up as late as we could playing cards and stuff, and then we would get up very early to open gifts. We also went caroling some years when I was really little.

I love this idea!
What kind of Christmas tree will you put up this year? We have an artificial tree. It is pre-lit. I would love a real tree, but would rather spend the money somewhere else. Favorite classic holiday movie? Christmas in Connecticut Favorite holiday classic on TV? How the Grinch Stole Christmas Favorite holiday drink? Egg Nog Favorite Christmas cookie? Cherry Winks Favorite Christmas candies? Peanut Butter Balls What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? We go to my parents for Christmas Eve. Ryan's parents for Christmas breakfast, and then everyone comes to our house for a salad and turkey breast on Christmas Day. Favorite holiday story to read to the kids? Polar Express Favorite Christmas carol or holiday song? O Holy Night Most memorable holiday tradition from your childhood? My brothers and I used to get up and look at all of the presents under the tree. After we couldn't stand it any longer we would send Jason, the youngest upstairs to begin flushing the toilet until my mom woke up. After a few years Mom and Dad started having "Santa" come on Christmas Eve.

What kind of Christmas tree will you put up this year?
We have an artificial tree with both big and small lights. Lights MUST be multicoloured!! I am not an all white light Christmas sorta gal. Christmas should look like candy!  Favorite classic holiday movie? 1938 version of a Christmas Carole. Favorite holiday classic on TV? Santa Claus is coming to town Favorite holiday drink? Cider Favorite Christmas cookie? Not really a cookie, but we have Baklava every Christmas Favorite Christmas candies? Homemade Fudge!! What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? Roast Beast. (Roast Beef but we call it Roast beast as that's what they call it in The Grinch.) Favorite holiday story to read to the kids? I forget the name of it, but it's by Berkley Breathed. It's about a kid who wants a bike but his life has been really hard and he doesn't believe in Santa any more because of it...but in a sudden moment of a leap of faith...(You guess the rest from here, but it's hard as it's a surprise ending.) Your favorite Christmas story? The Little Drummer Boy. (Fictional..but it makes me cry everytime.) Favorite Christmas carol or holiday song? God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen Most memorable holiday tradition from your childhood? classic movie = It's a wonderfull life Classic TV movie = How the grich stole Christmes Favorite drink = Hot apple cider = 2 cups cider simmer 5 min. add a stick of cinnamin simmer a few min. take off heat add 1/2 cup of applejack brandy drink hot Favorite cookie = scottish shortbread Favorite candie = anything LOL Favorite story to read = The Night Before Christmas Favorite carol = O' holy night Paul

We bought a new nine foot pre-lit Christmas tree this year so we don't have to struggle with lights. Its huge! I like real trees but so do kitty cats! Favorite classic holiday movie? It's a Wonderful Life and The Christmas Story Favorite holiday classic on TV? Charlie Brown's Christmas Favorite holiday drink? Coffee Favorite Christmas cookie? Who wants cookies when there is pumkin pie? Favorite Christmas candies? See above What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? Turkey, potatoes, dressing, etc. Favorite holiday story to read to the kids? No kids yet. I liked The Velveteen Rabbit. Your favorite Christmas story? What kind of Christmas tree will you put up this year?
My husband and I go back to the place where my family always went and cut a real tree. But I also bought an artificial one this year to put up the other ornaments that I couldn't fit on the real tree. Both are about 6 1/2 feet tall and decorated with many lights. Favorite classic holiday movie? The Christmas Story, Kenny & Dolly Christmas Favorite holiday classic on TV? Rudolf and Frosty the Snowman Favorite holiday drink? Peppermint Hot Chocolate Favorite Christmas cookie? My Grandma's homemade sour cream cookies Favorite Christmas candies? Homemade chocolate covered cherries, peanut butter balls, and fudge! (Notice a chocolate theme here?) What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? Most likely ham, potatoes, and wonderulf salads! Favorite holiday story to read to the kids? I guess we will find out - hopefully around next Christmas!! Your favorite Christmas story? The CHRISTmas Story as told in Luke Favorite Christmas carol or holiday song? ANY OF THEM - but O Holy Night is so beautiful at church on Christmas Eve! Most memorable holiday tradition from your childhood? Singing around the piano with mom playing, making candy with mom, seeing the presents under the tree when we got home from the Christmas Eve service, putting hay out for the reindeer (I grew up on the family dairy farm and someone had to keep those reindeer going so they could make the long trip!) and sooo many more. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

Christmas tree:
artificial one in the living room and a small artificial in the hallway with all of our personalized ornaments on it Favorite Classic holiday movie: I don't know if this is a 'classic' or not but it is my favorite National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Favorite holiday classic on tv: Doesn't National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation come on tv too? Favorite holiday drink: hot cocoa with extra marshmallows Favorite Christmas cookies: sugar cookies with icing and candy sprinkles Favorite Christmas candy: divinity fudge Main dinner course: spiral sliced ham with all the trimmings Favorite holiday story to read to kids and my favorite also: T'was The Night Before Christmas Favorite Christmas song: Ok I am a little different here, I like all the goofy ones like Dominic the Donkey, The Hanukkah Songs by Adam Sandler, and I love the ones by Cheech and Chong.....I know I'm weird I do hate the barking dogs though!!! My Christmas Tradition
Christmas tree – small artificial tree that goes on a table. Before we get our little one (or two) we’ll get a large artifical one!
Favorite classic holiday movie – Not a classic, but I think it will be someday -- Elf with Will Farrell. Favorite line:: "SANTA!! I KNOW HIM!! Favorite holiday classic on TV – Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. I cry when they don’t let him play those reindeer games! How mean! Just because he is different. It is those differences that make him save the day. Favorite holiday drink – Mexican Cinnamon Cider. Very Easy. Mom, would make this.
Pour into a large mug. Yes, there may be cinnamon stick floaties, but it added to the taste. You can also pour through a sifter to take out the impurities. I don’t know if it is Mexican, but I’ve never seen my friends from other ethnic groups make this. Favorite Christmas cookie – sugar cookies with colored sugar crystals and silver and gold sugar beads. Favorite Christmas candies – homemade pecan la leche (milk) candies. Sadly, I don’t have this recipe. Main course for your Christmas dinner – Homemade Tamales. All the women and girls in the family get together a few days before Christmas (in the case of this year, one week before Christmas). It is a great bonding moment. You get to find out that your Auntie’s are just as crude in thought just as you are !! Favorite holiday story to read to the kids – How the Grinch Stole Christmas Favorite Christmas story – A Christmas Carol Favorite Christmas carol – Mine is a rock song. All I want for Christmas is You. Most memorable holiday tradition from your childhood: My family (on mom and dad’s) would celebrate Christmas Eve. We would go to mom’s family early. Then we would got to dad’s family. Two of the men in the family would always be chosen to play Santa Claus and an elf to pass out gifts. So what the family would do is gather all the kids and read a holiday story or sing Christmas songs while the chosen Santa Claus would get dressed. Then the elf would knock on the door and one of the younger children gets to open the door. The elf would announce Santa parked his sleigh on the roof with the reindeer. Then out of the darkness Santa would appear with a bag of selected gifts from under the tree. Then Santa would call out each name on the gifts from the bag and under the tree. Then when he was finished, he would say he has other families he needs to go see. Growing up, when I realized there wasn’t a Santa Claus, I would try to figure out which family member was playing Santa and the elf. By the way, this tradition still continues. Grandma is 92 years young and it is so exciting to see her giddy as a school girl.

Fake, but really pretty. I like the kind of tree that's overloaded with every ornament you've ever collected or made, not the "decorator" trees Favorite classic holiday movie? I look forward to it all year long Favorite Christmas cookie? Cherry Blinks (maybe the same thing as Cherry Winks that someone else mentioned -- they are rolled in corn flake crumbs and have a cherry on top) Favorite Christmas candies? n/a, not a big candy person. I save my appetite for cookies! What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? We always do fondue on Christmas eve. Favorite holiday story to read to the kids? The Littlest Christmas Tree Your favorite Christmas story? The Gift of the Magi Favorite Christmas carol or holiday song? Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives. It's such a HAPPY song! Most memorable holiday tradition from your childhood? My brothers' trains around the Christmas tree. I didn't have my own train, so I've been trying to convince my husband that we NEED one. Real one. I had a fake one once and absolutely hated it. It's worth grabbing the dustbuster now and then to get up the needles to me. Favorite classic holiday movie? Fatigmon (Norwegian cookie) Favorite Christmas candies? Ribbon candy What will you serve as the main course for your Christmas dinner? We're going to a hotel for Christmas. The restaurant that we usually go to decided to change to a $60/pp buffet including kids. No other fancy restaurants are open and I refuse to pay that much for my extremely picky 7 year old to eat so we're having Chinese food Christmas Day and then going out for a great meal the next day when they go back to their regular menu.
