Ladybug
A few days before Thanksgiving, my husband and I were out talking to a customer and he said that I had a bug on my shirt. I looked down and couldn't see anything, then he pointed to my sleeve. A ladybug was crawling on my sleeve.
I read that it's supposed to mean something. So, I will remember that date and see if it has any meaning later on. At this point we are waiting for our 171H to arrive although we did our fingerprints last August but only got our homestudy complete a month ago. |

All I know is in Chinese culture ladybugs are a symbol of good luck.
It is exciting now when I see one. We had one on our bedroom ceiling for a couple of days. I finally released it back outside, didn't want the poor little thing to die. I have been printing off paper with different ladybug and panda prints for our daughters lifebook. I also ordered an Anne Geddes baby ladybug. It is so sweet. Does anyone out there know more about why the Chinese consider the ladybug to be good luck?

I don't think the Chinese people consider the ladybug good luck, I think the ladybug was just kind of adopted by the chinese adoption community as their good luck symbol.
I know the color red is considered good luck by the Chinese people, so maybe that has something to do with it. Donna www.waitingforlaurenelizabeth.blogspot.com |

RED Ladybugs
From what I have gathered about the RED ladybug (vs. the nasty orange Asian beetles we have in this area) is that in China, if one is seen, then good fortune is coming your way. I know there are different symbols of good luck, but I think it is a Chinese thing. I hope so - I found the cutest red ladybug buttons a couple of weeks ago and decided to put one on our blue and silver decorated Christmas tree. It really stands out, but DH and I put it on together and kind of had a little "ceremony" when we put it on for things to come this year - we hope!
